Yup just like mikeee2 said, use the hand brake when learning to go up hill. Eventually after you find the friction point on the clutch you won't need to use the hand brake. Learning 1st gear is always the hardest. Even though I've been driving stick for 10 years when I first got the G it stalled out a few times. It's all part of getting to know the clutch. Once you get 1st down the rest is cake. I thank my dad for teaching me how to drive stick even though I hated it at the time. It was so frustrating but it just takes practice. Good Luck.
