Cracked Windshield

When out this morning and noticed an 8" long crack in my windshield starting from the very top center.

The crack runs down just to the right of the rear-view mirror.

I did a forum searched and found a few others with this problem.

In my case the windshield showed no evidence of any windshield hit.

It rained all day yesterday (not a hot day) and the car was in a garage all night.

Any and all advice would be appreciated.

Luckily I have not had this problem. Could it be from stress from an improperly done installation?

25 years ago I had a Nissan Stanza that had distortion in the driver's side mirror. A few months after I bought it, I was in Vermont where it got to 20 below (F) at night. One morning the mirror was cracked. I brought it to the dealer and told him I thought it was from freezing with a distorted (badly installed) mirror in the first place. He wasn't happy, but he did replace it under warranty. That was a lot cheaper than a windshield, though.

I'd try to make that case since you know of no direct damage to it.

Good luck.

Sounds like a stress crack - happens sometimes. Look in OT and you'll see WRAH just got his replaced under warranty.

Should be a no-brainer. The dealer shouldn't hassle you about it.

My windshield cracked just as you described last Saturday, there were absolute no sign of impact. took it to Metro Infiniti in Monrovia and the A$$Hole service manager Dave Tanner refused the warranty work. He said they get that all the time and showed me a 2 week old G coupe that have the similar crack windshield that he also refused any warranty. And he said there is one more g35 sedan some where in the lot have the same thing. So I got pissed and when to a autobody shop to get it replace there, because I just can not take anymore from the arrogant infiniti people who I know just rejects all of their customer.

-----------UPDATE-----------

Just had the dealer inspect my windshield yesterday.

They agreed to replace the windshield under warranty and are ordering on OEM windshield.

They said it should take 1-2 weeks to get in.
