I agree... I'm not a prude, but I wouldn't let a place like that do anything with my car. That's just me - not saying others shouldn't.

My local Nissan does oil changes for about $21-22, so I do my oil changes there.

The nearest Infiniti dealership is 100 miles, and the one I used at 7500 and 14200 is 200 miles away.

Due to timing of my oil changes, 1600, 4700, 7400, etc, I've never needed an oil change when I've been back to the Infiniti dealership.

I'd say do oil changes & tire rotations on your own at any decent shop, and save the dealer trips for the 30,60,90K visits ... that'll be my approach. Since reliability was one of the main reasons I went with the G, I'm not seeing much value in the dealer "inspecting" the hoses, fluids, etc, when this engine is fairly bulletproof and doesn't even need a tuneup or change of plugs until 100K.

I have a friend who had an Altima that he took to Jiffy Lube for an oil change. They forgot to put the cap back on or forgot to put the oil back in because his car died on the way home. He now has a G35 coupe and I doubt he will ever go back to Jiffy lube.

I have also heard that Jiffy doesn't bother to drop the shield on the bottom
& you get an oily mess afterwards.

I do all my own maintence myself, but, I once went with a buddy to get his oil changed at a jiffy lube type place. They had 2 difference kids working on it. The first thing one of the kids does is take off the oil cap atop the motor, he then goes and does something else. Im watching all this from 5 feet away. He comes back to the motor, looks at the filler cap hole, sees there is no cover and tells me we have been driving without the cover. I tell him he just freaking took it off 3 min ago. He argues with with me. Finally I bet him a free oil change that the cover is there, he agrees, I go over, and there the cover is, just slipped down the motor a little. What a dumb ***. Heismanager was not happy.
NEVER take your car to one of these places.

I take it to the dealer every 3750 for oil change only. I just had my 7500 mi oil change a while ago. If I were to pay for the regular 7500 service, it would have cost me around $100 instead of the $35 oil change. I read the service requirements @ 7500mi; they are oil change, inspect ton of stuffs and rotate tires. I'll be glad to make $65 for anyone who wants their tires rotated..LOL
But I'll pay for the 30k service tho.

I don't have maintenance manual!

Are we supposed to get a maintenance manual along with the owner's manual. I don't have one. After reading the "maintenance thread" yesterday, I looked for a maintenance manual and I have none. On the Nissan website manuals are available for "purchasing" and on the infinity website, the link for service manuals gives an error!

Can someone tell me if we are supposed to get maintenance manual when we bought the car? I wonder how much my dealer will charge to get one of those now! My old car had maintenance schedule listed at the end of the owner's manual. Why does infinity have 2 separate books? geez! I just assumed everything will be in the one book - owner's manual!

Dude, WTF---Tell them to JUST change tho oil and you'll take care of the rest by yourself. That way you can take it to another mechanic to get a real assessment, dealerships are all about the service dept. most people think they can't take car anywhere else. The only reason most dealerships charge ~$30 for an oil change it to compete with the Jiffy Lube places, otherwise they will charge closer to $50
