G35 Sedan scheduled maintenance

How often are you current owners having your maintenance completed? Every 7500 miles like recommended or longer?

What type of scheduled maintenance is required and what does it run at the dealership? This is an important (cost) factor before I decide to purchase a G35.

Go to www.infiniti.com and they actually list the factory recommended maintenance schedule. It isn't all that different from most cars from what I can tell. They just seem to go on 3750 miles on an oil change rather than 3000. Now I will say that the first maintenance that we had done at the dealer was $90. Not sure I can handle that for an oil change (basically) but I want to make sure it is done RIGHT!

if you want to make sure your oil change is done right, then do it yourself. You can do a full synthetic oil change with K&N filter for $30 if you do it yourself.

Isn't the maintenance schedule published in the Owner's Manual ?

Depending on the dealership you go to it could be kind of pricey for some of the bigger scheduled maintenance appointments. Especially the 30k mile maintenance. They do perform a lot of "fluff" tasks that you can tell them not to do to save $$$.

If I do not yet own a G35 then wouldn't it make sense that I do not have an owner's manual?

I have mine serviced every 7500. Any less than that and I'd be in the dealership every month and a half. The two 'options' for service intervals are every 3750, or every 7500. Most services cost around $100 because I choose synthetic oil since I do the longer intervals. You can save money by doing things like using a K&N filter that the dealership won't have to replace, rotating your own tires, etc etc, and ask them not to perform those at maintenance time. Big services for me were at 15,000 and 30,000. They cost me around $300 and $500 respectively based on the 'froo' mentioned above.

I follow the owner’s manual and have the dealer do it. I keep meticulous records and like having the "dealer stamp" in my owners manual and invoicing for scheduled maintenance. I have found this to be beneficial when it comes time to sell the car.

As for the cost, it does vary... I suggest calling each of your local dealer service departments and price it. Just like when you buy it.

Or as others suggested, you can do it yourself. Depends on you.

Most tasks are easy and can be done at home, but you can be selective as 'Cru says and have the basics done on schedule for considerably less $$.

What if I just get the oil and filter done at a Jiffy Lube type of place and let the dealership complete the maintenance every 7500 miles or so? Opinions?

That's exactly what I do. The only other thing I do myself is clean the K&N air filter and rotate the tires.

i'd stay away from Jiffy Lube or any other place where you got teens working on your car, I used to work there out of h/s and my training was pathetic

my coworker recently had his 6 month old Mazda 6's engine rebuilt because the workers forgot to put in a gasket with the drain plug and all the oil leaked out within 30 miles
