7.5 Seconds

That is how long it is taking me to get to 60 mph. I am really disappointed. I thought this vehicle could get up to 60 in 6.1 seconds. The difference in what it could do and what it is doing is about 1.5 seconds. That's a huge difference. I shift quick, but I am wondering if the 87 octane and 90+ degrees is what is hurting the time. Please any feedback to get the 6.1 would be greatly appreciated. I have a 6MT Sedan 2003.5.

I would say the 87 gas is hurting you...use 93 next time and let us know if you've improved. Also, how are you obtainng your times?

Re: 7.5 Seconds

Infiniti recommends you atleast use 91 octane. 87 Octane will hurt your acceleration. Not to mention its not good for your engine when your pushing it that hard.

Also how are you timing yourself? only accurate way to time yourself is with professional equipment. A stopwatch is subject to error depending on who's using it. Figure easily a 0.5 sec. of error using a stopwatch.

Also remember to turn off your traction control, if you dont it will really hurt your acceleration. Also i've let a few of my friends drive my car and there shifting is so slow they can't even get the tires to break traction in the 1-2 shift. A person who can shift fast should be able to break traction on the 1-2 shift and the 2-3 shift. If your not breaking traction then your shifting to slow which causes the low 0-60 time.

Its your fuel choice. If you put in the bottom of the bucket that what you get back out of your car performance wise.

Re: 7.5 Seconds

Yeah Use 91 and try using the "G Tech pro" to figure out all your acceleration numbers

I know what you talking about with the 1-2 shift, even with sticky 245's I break traction. I think launch technique is equally important. One needs to dial up the right blend of traction at the adheasion limit without wheel spin. Course it's made all the more difficult on a open diff car.

Re: 7.5 Seconds

I completly agree with you Gsedan35, A good launch is key to a quick time. It was tough with my prelude when I added the supercharger, the dang car would hop all over the place if I launched at to high of a RPM. Thats one of the reasons I decided I wanted a RWD car this time around. My personal prefrence would of been to get the G35 Coupe, but being i'm 6'-4" it was just to snug. The sedan gave me the comfort I was looking for... besides the G35 sedan witth the right bodykit, rims and suspension can look really awesome.

Yeah but the coupe does have LSD, sedan would be a world better with it to. If I had a say, LSD would come on the sedan with the sport package.

Re: 7.5 Seconds

If the good sales continue with the G35 Sedan, I wouldn't be surprised to see a special addition sometime down the road with LSD, Dual Exhaust and Brembo Brakes...

One can hope anyways

I believe that the 90+degrees is also slowing down your time esince your engine is pulling in hot air...my 0.02...

Re: 7.5 Seconds

Put at least 91 octane in there...I only use 93 or 94 myself. I've got an auto sedan and had 0-60 times of about 6.3 in 60 degree weather. Is it possible that you're not quite a pro at a manual tranny yet? No offense, but I know I'm not very good at a manual, just a thought. Also, the weather definitely affects things.

Re: 7.5 Seconds

Well, I live in Phoenix Arizona. I think the elevation is about 100 feet above sea level. My shifting, I think is pretty good. I can get the wheels to break loose in 2nd and 3rd gear. But I think you guys are right, taking off IS the key. I either bog the car down or leave about a 12 foot long tread mark on the street. LOL. I think that along with the 90 degree weather and the type of gas was the issue.
