In auto I was referring to they are all very similiar(G35S,Max,3.5 Alti) and driver dependent from my experience, I dont do the manuals anymore because of my wife,lol!

 

I did some quick research...and here is why the Max (my wife's 02 is a perfect example) is running quicker (by a hair) in the quarter mile.

First off...
02-03 Maxima is 255 HP/246 lbs-Trq at 5800 & 4400 RPM
03 G35 is 260 HP/260 lbs-Trq at 6000 & 4800

[SO RIGHT OFF THE BAT THE G35 NEEDS MORE RPMS TO MAKE THE LITTLE MORE HP AND THE GOOD AMOUNT MORE OF TRQ...AND YES, THE MAX LOSES LESS HP THROUGH THE FWD.]

Next...
The 02-03 Max has 225/50 17s vs the G35s 215/55 17s
[WE ALL KNOW SIZE MATTERS AND THE G35 NEEDS SOME MORE WIDTH...:-)]

Lastly...
The 02-03 Max weighs only 3233 lbs vs the heavier G35s 3369 lbs
[THIS ALONE IS GOOD FOR 1.36 TENTS IN THE MAX'S FAVOR]

The G35 does have a more aggressive gear ratio set up for the Automatic Tranny though which might help a bit...

I had my brother take my wife's 02 and I took my G out last night on the Highway and from 60 mph to 130 mph he got the jump on me by a half a car lenght and then I pulled him by a car length...and by the time I shut it off at 130 he was only doing 120 or so...I also got mine up over 140 with ease today and an auto Maxima, no matter what any one claims, has a shut down at 130 +/- 1-3 mph...so a G will kill a Max on the top end...Only in Auto to Auto form...a 6 Spd Max will do almost 150 legit.

The Altima in auto form can't touch either car...at least from what I have seen, but in 5 spd form, a good driver will win a 1/4 mi race vs any Max or G, but then the Max and the G will pull the Altima top end with the G probably winning 6 spd to 6 spd based on less drag...

I am going to get some 235s and a CAI asap and see what I can pull at the track when this car is all broken in.

I am sorry dude, but so far I have the fastest 6MT that has produced a time. 14.10@100 and a 2.06 60ft. I shifted at 6500 every single time for the best results. I run consistant 14.1-14.2's. If you shift at 6500 and shift fast - you will get a 14.1 or better. If I still had my car, I would powershift it just to get a 13 stock.

Hmmmm.... I would also guess that the Max has less to contend with concerning wheelspin due to the fact the drive wheels are located directly under the heaviest part of the car - the engine.

 

What are you sorry about?

Awesome times...I just wish the autos G35s could come closer to the MTs. With the Maximas, the autos are only 1-2 tenths slower in the quarter mi.

No one has verified it yet, but I still think the ECU severely retards timing and fuel off the line with the G35...especially the auto...even with the TCS off, I can hardly spin the rear wheels going straight...my wife's 02 Max will lay down up to 30' of rubber if you really get on it...up at the track I launched her car at no more than 2000 rpms...that 4 speed auto shifts better than our 5 speed autos (only for 1/4 mi times).
