Low Pressure Tire Sensor
my 05 X has a TPS in the full-size spare (part of premium C). The spare was called into service pretty quickly when I found a nail in one of my tires with ~2k on the odometer.
I got the damaged tire replaced and kept that wheel as my spare since I saw no need to jack the car back up and do a switch.
During some long trips, I noticed that the pressure light would come on intermittently (and with no buzzer - or at least none that I heard). I took it into the dealer and they quickly realized the original spare was on and registered the sensor with the car - the light hasn't come on since.
The 4 sensor limit seems kind of stupid - can anyone confirm that that limit really does exist?

I have a set of 4 Tire sensors that came of the 05 G35x sedan that I was getting ready to sell on ebay.
If anyone want one, PM me.
$90 for one
$140 for 2
$240 for all 4 of them
Add $10 for shipping.
The sensors is integrated in the tire valve stem.
thanks

The full size spare tire option was only $250 which included an alloy wheel that matches the other four wheels- that's a hell of a value to me- you shouldn't expect it to include the expensive tire pressure sensor for that cheap of a price.

I'm not sure why you'd want to do a 5-tire rotation. Seems pretty pointless to me, expecially considering that most tire manufacturers recommend a standard 4-tire rotation (front to back). Front to back rotations are preferred in that they do not cause you to change the rotational direction of a given tire. Plus your tires will always be very close in wear on each axle.
With a 5 tire rotation, you are always going to have one oddball that isn't quite at the same wear point as the other tire on the same axle.
My recommendation is to put the spare in the trunk, as that is what it was intended to be used as. The nice thing about a full size spare is that you are not speed limited or handling limited should you need to use it. A full size spare isn't there to provide you with another full-time tire to work into your rotation cylce.

As far as I know, the tire pressure is built into the air valve and it is not necessary to take the tire off the rim to change that.

As for your statement that the full size spare "should be" rotated with the other four, you are recycling topics that have already been discussed in this thread, which you failed to read the rest of. Saying that someone "should" rotate a full-size spare is a bold claim considering there isn't any absolute reason as to why you need to. If you want to, fine, do it. If you don't, then don't. The argument is similar to mineral oil vs synthetic oil.

" I did not miss your point as I mentioned full-size spare in my original post: The nice thing about a full size spare is that you are not speed limited or handling limited should you need to use it. As for Infiniti being cheap I disagree. They designed the wheel to fit the application as a spare tire, regardless if it is full sized or not. It is meant to be temporary. Infiniti has given us an incredible value with the G35 and you are complaining that they didn't add in a sensor for an application that most people wouldn't take advantage of. There are all kinds of little niceties that were cut from the car in the name of cost in order to provide a great overall value."
Once again, I understand your frustration, but if it were me I'd only use that wheel as the temporary spare it is meant to be (even if it is full size). The value you have with your full size spare is that you are not going to be limited in speed or handling or safety should you need to use it on a long trip.[/I]
I still dont see the refutal, you just repeated what you already said. The full size spare is the same tire as the other four and can (should) be included into the tire rotation. Maybe you should contact a tire dealer and ask them. THere are PLENTY of reasons to incorporate the FULL SIZE spare into the rotation, as already mentioned by Streaker, and myself. Even tire wear between 5 tires as opposed to 4 will dramaticaly increase your tire life. Furthermore when it is time to get new tires you wont throw away one perfectly good brand new tire. As you said "if it were me I'd only use that wheel as the temporary spare .." well you can, but that dont make you right.. not by far. I read the entire thread, and in case you don't get it, I am agreeing with the rest..Oh, AND synthetic oil is far better than crude oil, theres no argument there, just facts!!
