300Z TT brakes anyone?

As a former owner of a 2000 Maxima, one of the hot tickets for much better brakes for that car was to swap in the calipers from a 300Z TT. Since it was from the same manufacturer, it was an easy swap. These were 4 piston calipers in stock form with much larger pads, and was a nice upgrade for the Max, (although I did not try this out personally). Plenty of clean, wrecked 300Z TT's around to use as organ donors as well! Probably $4K cheaper than doing all four with Brembo or Willwood calipers. Has anyone considered this upgrade for the G sedan?

Z32s were still made in Japan but not imported to theUS. I think they were made untill 200 or 2001 not totally sure. The brakes wouldn't be that old but I do see your reasoning. It sounds weird to do an old brake swap. The brakes might be bigger which would help. Maybe someone should investigate if this might be a cheap option

Re: 300Z TT brakes anyone?

A junk yard approach is certainly possible, and you could put new seals on the pistons if you wanted. It's really not too hard to rebuild a brake caliper, to achieve as-new performance, assuming the pistons or bores are not damaged. For more money could also buy commercially remanufactured 300Z TT calipers, (or even new ones) for the 10 yr old car. Either of these approaches will still cost a small fraction of buying new Willwoods or Brembos. Just because it was designed 10 years ago dosn't mean they weren't nice big brakes, that were more powerful than those on the G.

My original question, however, remains: Has anyone tried his or have any idea if they will fit? Given the fact that they fit on the last Maxima, it certainly seems like a posibility.

I agree! Can this be done? Yuichi or Kyle can we use the older Z32 TT brakes on a G?
