Service Engine Soon light

I checked my gas cap- its not that. No idea why this light is on. I do notice that the car idles a tad high but nothing horrible. I have the car going in in a few days. No idea what this light means

My wife's car have the same light on for a few weeks now. She have 24K so it might be a service reminder. One thing I realize is that I smell a gas from exhaust all the time now. Maybe because she switched gas from 91 to 89? At least it doesn't say "Service Engine NOW". Let me know too.

on a similar note:
what is the cost of scheduled maintenance?
i thought ALL luxury car manufacturers had this covered in their warranties, but appearantly i should have asked about the G before i bought it.

If that's a concern then YES. You DEFINITELY should have asked before you bought it. Scheduled maintenance of this car is pretty costly, IMO. The dealer will be looking to charge you at least $250 per service interval with the major ones being closer to $500. DIY.

Usually it's some sensor (Oxygen i believe) the gets fouled up. It will make the car idle roughly.

FYI, North American Nissans and Infinitis have no such animal. If you came from BMW land, your confusion is understandable.

Don't worry about it. It's only a nuisance light. It will eventually go out. . . .

I would like to reset my computer: the reason is that I accidently disconnect the airbag wire to get to the air filter while my engine was running. The result is that I have a flashing light in my control panel. Any recepy on how to reset this #&?* computer?

How to rest your ECU:
https://g35driver.com/forums/engine-drivetrain-forced-induction/6526-easy-ecu-resetting.html

nismo4090, make sure you check that all screws, etc are tight and did you damage your MAF in any way? Try resetting your ECU and it might go away.

trojanman, if you can prove (i.e. service records) that you had all the work done, then it should not be an issue.

Doogie, where do you get at least $250 for a service interval. You know, that oil changes are considered service intervals right?

I just took my car in to get the problem checked and told me that there is a problem with one of the fuel injector line. Insted of fixing it, they cleaned the fuel injector with some chemical. I'm suppose to wait few days to if it's working but within the sameday, the SERVICE ENGINE SOON light lit up again. Well, I'll give it a few days and see things will get better.
