I came from behind and passed her.....took a good long look fore and aft as we were rolling in slow downtown traffic and I just don't care for the redesign. The Coupe front end belongs on the Coupe - Not the Sedan. The round tail lights put me in mind of the Altima. Maybe Infiniti will fix those (to me) problems on the '06.
Not a big maybe at all, the '05 front end looks great, and the rear is nicer too, not even close to an Altima. I am pleased with all aspects of the '05 verses my '04!

The Nismo bumper looks a lot better than the 05's bumper. The Nismo bumper is lower, more vertical, and a bit more aggressive looking. You can get the lip spoiler for the 05, but it looks tacked on and not near as clean as the Nismo bumper. I do like the body colored lower panels of the 05. It does look much better.

I agree, I prefer the Nismo front end to the '05 front bumper. with will also say that the '05 bumper is much nicer than the stock '03 and '04

I say once more:

Damn Shodog, I like your freaking car. Dammit. Quit posting pics....

No offense, but the reason it took me two years to buy a G is because I couldn't live with a coupe but didn't like the looks of the sedan. The nose was too busy and I didn't like the black kick panels. The double line in the hood was nice, but I like the single line better.

The 05 sedan re-skin sealed the deal for me - I think it has the best character traits of both the coupe and sedan.

wheels were about $1800 shipped to my door. I wanted to at least have a set of name brand tires.

Thanks again GEE, I wish I had the '05 interior in mine.

Damn, your car looks great! I agree, (0bviously, LOL) that the '05 bumper is much nicer, as are the body colored sills, I like my '05 much better in those areas. Plus, I also don't think the rear looks as "thin" as the '04 did, just something about it, even parked next to an '04.

From my experience the 05 Sedan is slightly faster. At the local track I have seen multiple stock G35 Sedans go 14.9-15.0 while I was able to get a 14.71 my 1st time out with under 5k miles on the engine. I don't see why Infiniti would lie about having the ECU tuned more agressively for 05, I have seen the difference 1st hand at the track.

05 vs 03.5

I like my new 05 better than the 03.5 due to the front bumper and the added changes of technology (intelligent key, sat, gauges, tilt/telescopic wheel and so on), but the best part is the power band change. My traction control doesn't come on everytime I start from a stop to reduce the wheel spin. Moving the power band really made the car feel better as a daily driver. I didn't need to get the AWD version based on this. Let's face it, it doesn't snow more than 1 or 2 times a year in Seattle, I'll drive the Typhoon those days.

My brother has a 04 and I have a 05 G35x and you can feel a power difference, not off the line, but when you are at higher speeds. The 05's exhaust sounds better too. All these magazines favor BMW for some reason.

You'd have to take the cars to the track to really verify this. There have been a a couple 05 G35X's on this site that have already gone to the track and ran 14.7-14.8@94mph which is no quicker than the 260hp 04 Xs.

Thank you. I was about to post this after reading through this entire thread.
This is the lowest 1/4 mi time I have seen in a magazine tested G35. Does it mean your car will test the same? Maybe. Does it mean the '05 6MT's are faster than previous years? Assuming M/T has always posted corrected numbers, the '05 6MT is faster.

As for the comment about testing a weak vs. strong G35, that's just crazy. They are all built with the same tiny tolerences which leave very little room for weak or strong engines. They are all the same.

Maybe some of these tests are done at different times of the year when the temperature is different. Although, I don't know how much difference that makes. I agree that magazine editors seem to be biased when it comes to certain cars, but that shouldn't affect performance times.

It sure would be nice to have a comparison on the track and on the dyno, all at the same time. That's the only way you could draw any conclusions.
