well, of course big rocks are still going to get through to your paint and chip/dent it. It is all the little things, sand and other small stones that would normally mess up your front end. Over time, things as small as sand will do alot of damage to your car. This, along with big damage is what the clear bra is for - not objects bigger than probably a dime, maybe even less.

The clear bra will protect your front end paint from your everyday minor road nuisances. However, larger objects will probably get through the film. Tailgating and not being aware of what is in front of your vehicle is your worst enemy, in that event. In which case, nothing practical will preserve your cars' finish.

$250-$690? Isn't that a big spread for a similar job?

My car already had the nose mask (hood) installed, the dealer did that, so that would have added to it, plus I didn't get my headlights done, 3M recommends not doing the headlights, I never had any chips or nicks in the headlights on my '04 anyway.

For $250, that is cheap by comparison. What type of coverage did you get? Here in California, there are plenty of competitors charging much less than what we chg, but the quality of installation is what makes or breaks the visibility level. There are companies using cheaper "kits" (multi-pc for the front bumper or less coverage on the hood) because certain vehicles are too tough for the average installer to lay the film down in one piece.

Here are some pics of exotics we work on a daily basis that's full custom (non pre-cut) that costs anywhere from double to 20 times the cost of the Gs.

Again, cost is highly dependent on installation quality. The newer companies or installers generally charge much less since they need to gain experience....and the only way to gather this is by offering it at a significantly reduced cost.

Mine was done one piece, not a kit, the entire front bumper is covered, and like I said, the hood was done by the dealer, so I don't know what the cost was, the shop has been in business for many years, and does all the Infiniti, Lexus, BMW and Mini dealers tint and trim here. I didn't know people would do the entire car, I don't think I would like that. How hard is it to do all the nooks and extreme curves?

In Nor Cal, you can't go wrong with Sam (Wil) at Premier Mobile. Their work are second to none. Definitely remember that you get what you pay for. I've seen many jobs done at very cheap prices, and it always ends up to be those hack job horror stories that people talk about.
