Weighed the Sedan 18" wheel today!

Well, I took off the wheel today and took a few more brake pics. Also wanted to know the weight of these wheels. I was expecting to lift a heavy wheel, but to my surprise for a 18" wheel with a 235/45 tire it was lighter than expected!

49 LBS TO BE EXACT! It is 3 lb lighter than the stock 03-04 G35 17" sport wheels.

See pics below...

Cool wheels. Are those staggered or the same way all around?

Hmmm...that's odd. My 17" Sport Package wheels with EL42s with 80% tread weighed 45lbs on the scales we use for Fed-Ex at work.

The point is INFORMATION!! Rim weight plays a signifcant role in acceleration and 1/4 mile times. 49lbs with rubber for a stock 18" rim is pretty good.

Let me clarify, the Goodyear GS-D on the 17" wheel weighs 3 lb more than these.

The 19" Coupe wheels weigh 49-51 lb for forged. Ours weigh the same.

the 05 brakes seems to have alot more sweep area then my 04, and since you had an 04, did you feel any difference in stopping? for the true enthuisiast, wheel/tire weights are just as important as adding power goodies.....had coupe 18's(25lbs) and then finally settled on 18" Z track wheels(18.1front and 18.6lbs rear)...knocked of 6.9lbs per corner in the fronts and 6.4lbs per corner in the rear just by switching wheels.....needless to say, accel, decel and cornering has vastly inmproved......

re that reply about the point.........most of us post to search or share information on how to better our g's.........the bling bling crowd usually go for eye candy and wonder why their ride is so slow with 20" chromies.....nothing wrong with that if that's your cup of tea.......peace.

When breaking the brakes in, it seems that they did not stop as well, but after driving it for 2200 miles+, they have now gotten a bit more grabby and feel very good.

Wheel/tire weight makes huge difference in acceleration. Just look at the skinny wheels used on the 1000 hp funny cars at the drag strip. Weight also makes a big difference in road manners. Changes in unsprung weight are very noticeable.

G35_TX. Thanks for the info. I've looked all over for the weight of the 18" sedan wheels. Quick question, though. Do you have the Turanza's or the Goodyears? Thanks.

Just curious - why were you taking pictures of your brakes?

Goodyears.

Geew, I took pics to compare to my older 04 model.
