'03 Buying Recommendations
I'm interested in an '03 G35 sedan (automatic). I am coming out of a '98 A4 2.8 Quattro. I know all about the Audi's gremlins, I'd like to learn about any of the Infiniti's.
Some specific questions I have are:
Thanks,
Todd
Some specific questions I have are:
- What are the specifics about the sport package?
- What is the navigation system like, is it upgradeable?
- Are there any Technical Service Bulletins (TSB) or other gotchas to be aware of?
Thanks,
Todd
Sport Package Comes With 17" Rims/tires, Harder Shocks/springs, And Also Gives You The Aluminum Trim Inside...skip The Sports Package. Youll Need Springs And Shocks Anyway. Youll End Up Getting A Vastly Superior Ride With Same Money Getting Eibach Springs And Tokiko Shocks. Skip Navi... Go With God-of-cpu's Touchscreen Multimedia Set-up.it Fits In The Stock Navi Hole And It Has So Many Features It Makes Me Dizzy. Try To Get An 03.5, They Have Some Quirks Worked Out Over The 03's.
Additional questions
Hoo-Man?, thanks for the quick response.
I'm doing a bunch of searching, but I have some questions for clarification. On the sports package, are the rims/tires just different, I thought all the G35 sedans had 17" rims. Why will I need shocks/springs anyway? How do I know it is a 03.5?

The Stockers Are Just 16" And The Rims Look A Little Diffirent. Shocks-500/springs-200 Are By Far The Biggest Improvement To The G, And Cheapest.great Bang For The Buck.btw, Go For Sways-250, Coupe Midpipe-120, Z-intake Tube-75 And K&n Air Filter-35 Too...low Cost , High Improvement .03.5's Have No Funny Trunk Latch In The Center Of The Trunk Lid. Rather They Have ,like The Current G, Infiniti Spelled Out Accross The Entire Trunk Lid And No Latch. Much Better Look Imo.

Hey Mark5;
What are your problems with the 03 sedan? I bought mine in April, 2002 and it has been "bullet-proof". I keep hearing about the trunk square and if you are serious about buying a new one because of the trunk square, I have a bridge For Sale that goes over the Hudson river if you are interested.
You either have too much money(if I had too much money, I wouldn't own the G that I currently own) or too much time doing nothing.
Anyway,I have driven all the year models when I bring my car in for service and my "original" 2003 G still is still the best from a pure performance standpoint.
Have a great day;

My 03 was built the month before they went to the 03.5. I got black so the "doggie" door isn't remotely as noticeable. I bought my 03 used and the car is in great shape though I need to take it in for a few TSBs because I don't think this car has ever been in the shop before. My driver's seat "rocks" sometimes. I don't find it an issue, but if there's a fix, why not? I want to make sure the audio/climate control wiring panel has been updated (TSB) and I'm going to try get them to upload the new tranny program just for the heck of it. Three things I really do want corrected is the headlight flutter over bumps and some rattles (front doors, rear passenger side upper 1/4 panel) which mainly occur under music bass. All of these issues/rattles have TSBs and should easily be addressed.
If it was me, I'd look at all 03/04s and drive as many as you can. Get the one you want and don't settle for anything.

I just got an 03.5 a couple months ago - same as Dave, it had never been in the shop so none of the TSB's had been performed. When I bought it I made sure they did them all, and since then I went back once and had them re-adjust my drivers seat so it wouldn't squeak. Aside from that the car has been rock solid and a joy to drive.
im in the same boat bought my car w/ 33k miles and it didnt have too much done either, the front brakes went out at 34k so they changed it under warranty so that was perfect cause i had fresh brakes free, they fixed my chair from moving around too and some rattles. but the car is pretty solid, im taking it in next week cause the air conditioning sounds very loud when its on.
