Tint recommendation
#31
ariesextreme - the numbers people use are VLT - visible light transmitted, so 35% means that of the 100% of light that hits your car, only 35% penetrates the tint and goes into your car. And this causes you not to be able to see in since reflection is what you see (physics yay). I have 5% on my old car, aka limo tint, you can NOT see anything in 99% of the time and at night if its raining its very dangerous I can't see anything. This of course was legal when I put it on, but they recently changed this in GA. I would recommend if you never have had a tinted car before go with 35%, I did 5% for s/g because it was legal at the time and the guy gave me a good deal (bc he figured id nark out and come get it removed). On the G I'm tempted to do 35 all around bc being paranoid about being stopped gets annoying, or 35 on the fronts and 20 on the rears, I wouldn't go darker than 35 on the fronts. Go search on google for the legal limits in your state just to be safe.

Thanks for the input. Does it look funny when you have two different tints on the back and the front..like you suggested doing 35% on the front and 20% on the back...for some reason when I picture it..it doesn't look that appealing to me. I've had windows tinted before..back when before they put regulations on them..but that was at least 6 years back and I don't remember what I had them on..plus it was on a Benz.
TMDS--is that 20% all around? That does look nice I have to admit...

There is a previous pick here of someone who has 35/20. My roommate has 20 all around on his benz if you'd like to see what that looks like. I am doing 35 on the front bc I've been stopped b4 and tint tickets are annoying, and esp worse if the officer decides he wants u to remove the tint on the spot or will take a knife to your tint. Go with legal limits up front and have fun w/ the rest, even 20/5 isn't too bad looking if your state allows it.

Erik...
Okay...I just saw the pic...it's from DaveB who posted a pic of the black sedan. I can't really tell the different between the front from the rear windows. I might have to see one up close rather then in just pics to make a judgement call. If in fact there is no different...might just do 35% all around

yep some ppl tint the entire windshield which i think is too much lol even for me w/ 5%. Yeah 35% may be too light for u, but its legal and pretty easy to see in / out of but not the slick styling, I think 35/20 is the way to go, unless of course your in somewhere like fl where 15% is legal then def go 15 or 20.

Nevertheless, I've seen it done and I've had more than one person ask me, "you did the windshield too?" when I've said I got all-around tint. Made me kind of laugh at first. Don't get me wrong, though, if it weren't illegal, I'd probably put a lighter tint on the windshield in a heartbeat.
