Is the 2005 TireRack Wheel Data Correct?
Is the 2005 TireRack Wheel Data Correct?
Tirerack finally posted wheel info for the 2005 G35 Sedan. My question, does Tirerack have it right?
I thought that 2005 6MT's would take any 17" wheel that would fit on the 2005 Automatic (non sports package) model.
If you select the 6-Speed transmission on Tirerack it does NOT give you the option of shopping 17" wheels. I really want to buy 17" wheels for my snow tires.
Does anyone know for certain? If the 2005 6MT really will not accept a 17" wheel wouldn't that mean that the 6MT has different (bigger) calipers and brake pads than the 2005 Automatic?
I am hoping I can just select the 2005 Auto on tirerack and then shop for wheels and snow tires.
Thanks in advance for any information. I want to order my snow tires soon, and I'm not sure where else to turn for answers. Would the well meaning Infiniti mechanics know?
Regards,
Eric

If you want new 17 inch wheels, then you have to get aftermarket then decide on tire size.

Tirerack will mount and balance your tires on your wheels then ship them to your door. So that when the time comes, you can just jack your car and do-it-yourself.
I think a more narrow winter tire makes sense, ie 215/55/17 which is the size that comes on the automatic 2005 G35.
So I just want to know is 17" wheels will fit on the 2005 6MT, if they will, then tirerack has it wrong.

The 05 G35X has the same size rotors as the 04 brakes. The 05 G35 6mt,autos non-X model has the bigger brakes and those are the ones you need to watch out for. A 17" wheel should still clear the brakes since the 05 non-sport and non-g35x has 17" wheels.
17s Will Fit
I bought a set of 17" wheels/tires from Tire Rack in January to replace my 18" summer tires - they worked fine on my 5AT with Sport Suspension, the same set up that's on the 6MT.

Thanks to ALL for your responses
Thanks everyone for your responses to my question. It is a shame that tirerack took this long to finally load 2005 specs for wheels, and they still got it wrong
Atleast I can now shop for my 17"'s without fear
Now all I have to fear is driving "conservatively" with winter tires on the G.
Thanks again,
