Here is what Motor Trend's Aug, 03 issue came up with in their first mini test of the 03.5 MT G35 Sedan...and the results are awesome (BUT WEIRD):
0-60 in a very quick 5.78 seconds
14 Mi Time & Speed: 14.28 @ 100.3 mph
I am very confused...Aren't both of these times faster than the 280 HP MT Coupe??? Here is what Road and Track got out of the coupe...Dubbed the VQ, this 24-valver pumps out 280 bhp at 6200 rpm and 270 lb.-ft. of torque at 4800 (compared with the 350Z's 287 bhp and 274 lb.-ft.), allowing the heavier G35 Sport Coupe to run to 60 mph in a scant 6.1 seconds...and Motor Trend has the Coupe ripping through the 1/4 mi in 14.2 at 99.4 mph...All of these times are slower than the new Sedan's times...What's really odd is Motor Trend doesn't even mention this.
This would be like the new Mustang GT outrunning the Cobra in the same categories...it would never happen.
SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT HERE B/C THIS CAR IS NOT FASTER THAN THE COUPE...

This car is close enough that it is all the same, sir.
the Z, the max, the altima, the coupe, the sedan. They are all close enough it comes down to the driver.
also, each car is built within certain tolerances. there is a +/- to each of those tolerances which can result in hp differences
i myself have run a 14.4 @98 mph at 1200 ft on a 100 degree night, so 14.1 is probable, 14 flat is very possible for my sedan. comes down to the driver every time in a MT car.

Those are some awesome times and very similiar to the coupe numbers. The sedan does have a slight weight advantage which will help. Maybe the hp numbers are closer than advertised, who knows.
I'm really impressed with the trap speed which indicates the car is capable of 13 sec timeslips provided good traction and driving!

LIGHTER THAN THE COUPE - BABEE. Dam,thats respectable. We sedan drivers are due for some of that oodling that the coupes get most of time. Iike that auto is not much slower either as compared to almost a second lost for 330i being a auto. IF sedans had some rubber that didn't suck - we would be right there.
Coupe's handling must be more nimble and taut. I should drive one...anybody in philly/KOP area with a coupe want a have a donut and a spin?

Those are great times. wish i can get that close in my auto.
3point5SE_Auto,
I didn't realize you ran that time with your car...I am happy to see that...I am hoping you can beat that time down when you can get to the track with cooler temps.
You are absolutely right about those cars you mentioned coming down to the driver...I was just saying how shocked I was to see the Sedan run over 100 mph through the 1/4 mi and so close to the 13 second zone...especially when no magazine has gotten any where near either of those numbers with even the coupe.

The coupes suspension and the sport suspension on the sedan are the same. Sway bar diameter my differ, but highly doubtfull. Of course the coupe get's LSD with it's 6mt and then their's those 18's on the coupe to. The Z is different, much tighter, and harsh to allot of people. I'm testing 350Z springs and struts on my sedan right now.
Ivry 6mt sed
Injen CAI, 22" resonator

Kumho MX 245/40

thanks bossho
what is even mo betta about those times i spouted above is the 60 ft times were 2.2xx on that 14.4 run
high 2.0's are very doable in this car and even lower with some better tires than the GS-D's
And I have heard of a guy trapping at 104 mph in an altima with <500.00 in mods (i, catback, udp only)

Didn't djrezin8 post high 13s in an auto sedan in the 1/4?

You're welcome...anything in the low 2s is a great 60' time. I just got 245/45 Kuhmo Ecstas put on and I am getting real close to 1500 miles on my car...if it is cool out this Wednesday I may take it up to New England Dragway and see how it does bone stock without the CAI.

Well,
I went to the track at the last minute yesterday and I am happy, but disapointed at the same time.
My best run was my second when I left it in "4," and that was a mediocre 14.82 @ 93.5.
My first run was a higher 14.8 at a lower 93 mph, and I left in drive for that run. A Chevy Car blew up down the track while waiting to go for my first run, and after that run I had to wait another effing 45 minutes for my second run so I couldn't get any kind of rhythm going.
I lost all patience to wait any longer after my 2nd run so I went right to manually shifting for my 3rd run knowing it would be my last...and I hit the rev limiter for two blurps in 1st and then again in 3rd (I really wish the upshift would happen when we actually upshift ya know...it's such a guessing game) so my run was junk (15.11), but my mph went all the way up to 95.08...which to me says if I didn't redline those two shifts manually shifting might me the way to go at the track...or else there's not much hope for me beating my wife's 02 Maxima.
I break torqued to 2500 Rpms all three times and with the TCS off and the big 245/45 17 Kuhmos on there the tires hooked right up for decent 2.28 60' times, but not as good as my wife's 02 that pulled low 2.1 60' times. That, and a lazy shifing 5 speed automatic that is no where near as peppy as the 4 speed automatics in the 02-03 Maxima's is why the Infiniti's are not making it down the 1320 in style.
I also had a 1/2 tank of gas that I didn't mean to have, and it was just south of 90 F when we got there so there is hope for mid 14's, especially after the CAI I have Frankencar Custom build in a week...
so until then, that's the facts jack! Have a great 4th everybody.
