I had a 2003 Maxima SE and traded it for my 2005 G35X. My insurance went down $21 a year. Not much of a difference.

Idk it sounds sketchy, but Im still not sure how allstate would take it. I guessing that it would actually be cheaper then a base 04 Maxima SE, because it doesnt have TC, or Stability control. So if you guys have any more info thanks.

i have two cars, 03 G and a 95 acura integra, which is only liability and my G is only a PLEASURE car with short miles, and that makes a big price difference

def call your agent and ask how it changes.

but be prepared for it to suck.

Before I bought, the price I was quoted was $250 more per 6 months, but I'm not sure they factored everything in (lojack, etc). I'm still waiting for my official premium from Mercury. On the phone, she told me it was only $140 more, but I think that might just be for the remainder of my current policy.

Based on the quotes I got before the car though, it's $100 more than a TL and $50 more than a G35 coupe. No clue why the coupe is more than the sedan. I'm assuming that she either read it wrong, or the sedan is just more expensive to repair.

These are based on L.A. prices. Only good thing she told me it's a good thing I live west of La Cienega because I'd be paying a lot more. argh.

I have insurance though USAA (military only basically).

From a 2001 Stratus ES to a 2005 G35 Sedan 6MT my insurance went up almost exactly $50 every 6 months.

AAA, my amount went down $35/year over my 2000 Dodge Durango.

Go figure!

I live in Dallas, am married, 35 years old, no tickets/accidents, multiple car/multiple line discounts with State Farm, had them forever, yada yada yada... insurance went up $20 a month moving from an '02 Altima 3.5 SE to the G35.

Obviously, the arcane psedoscience that is underwriting decided to bend me over a log on the G35. YMMV of course. Bottom line: It's a premium brand, and you'll almost certainly pay more to insure it than you would a similar non-premium brand car from the same manufacturer such as an Altima or Maxima, all factors being equal. Which they aren't.

Granted, this is for the higher coverage required for a lease, but still... OUCH. And yes, I was told it was so high because it is a "high performance vehicle".

SCDGoofy,
I'm also with Mercury and they are the lowest coverage. I pay a bit more than KAILEP but I'm single and under 30. Do not go with 21st or Geico.

I'm wondering how much more you guys pay if you have full coverage instead of just liability. I know there are different risk factors involved.

Well, I am replacing my 04 STi with a G35X and here's my premiums:

04 STi: 1131 every six months
05 G35X: 931 every six months

This is from State Farm (100 Deduct Collision/0 Deduct Comp), 26, No Tickets or Claims

I have found that a car like a 4cyc camry is the baseline for insurance no matter where you are. Once you get a premium car like a TL or G35 expect about a 20% increase. If you decide BMW expect a 30% increase. Ah yes if you get something that has GT STI etc.. You could pay a premium for the go fast emblems... that can be yet another 10 %. Coupes are generally more expensive to insure than sedans ...

I owned an 02 BMW 330i and I traded it for the leased 05 G35 Auto. My premium went up about $10 a month. However, I still only pay $820(State farm, North Carolina) every 6 months for the G35 and a Honda pilot combined. I am married, 29, and perfect driving record. Well perfect as far as the DMV knows. Luckily Tennessee did not report tickets to the DMV if you were under 18 unless you got 3 before you were 18. Good thing because that 88(was more like 105 but the cop wasn’t allowed to pursue over 88 mph) in a 55 would have hurt!

all insurance companies use a rating table for cars, they look at how cars do in accidents, how bad people get hurt in certain cars, how the aftermarket parts are for the car, how much damage gets done to the car in an accident, how much the car costs new and how much the value is after a certain years, it has nothing to do with it being a coupe or a sedan, people need to stop thinking that, some cars that are offered in 2drs are cheaper then 4dr versions

You know, when I bought my first G35, '04, I went from a '00 Mustang GT Convertible into my G, my insurance dropped considerably, nice surprise IMO!
