I did the same thing. I almost felt embarrased for the BMW.

There was a whole long thread on this not long ago. No one argued that the BMW was not a nice car but it sure gets expensive with all those fancy options. Motor Trend did a comparo with the 05 G, 330, and Audi. They gave BMW the crown but it cost $11k more than 2nd place, the G.

Drop $11K on the G and you could have full suspension, rims, tires and Turbo or SC. Some stereo upgrades as well

MT-- Exhaust too loud

I am sure the hyenas say the same about the lion's roar in Africa.

With all the options the Bimmer gets exspensive, but at 36K the bimmer costs about the same as the G, you get free maintnance, which I figure I spend about $750-$1000 a year on....

$1000 on Maintenance a year on a brand new car??? Oil changes, tire rotation, windshield wiper fluid, look the vehicle over. Can you give a break down of the $1000 of these fees that BMW would also include for free? Especially the first year.

Is it your job to go around and question what everyone says. I can do that too, and probably do a lot better job than you. It was an attempt to show that the freebies are a nice addition, if you did not catch that, sorry....

Infiniti's 15000 mile service costs almost $500, Molbil 1 oil changes cost $75, rotation/balancing/alignment cost $200, you do the math. BMW covers just about everything for 4 years with the free service.

You posted $750-$1000 a year in Maintenance fees not me.

again you didn't answer the question:

"$1000 on Maintance a year on a brand new car??? Oil changes, tire rotation, windshield wiper fluid, look the vehicle over. Can you give a break down of the $1000 of these fees that BMW would also include for free? Especially the first year."

Read the above post, I figured you would have that response before you even responded, if I need to add it up for you I can.

First of all you added that stuff in after my response. Second you don't need to align your car every year and can you confirm BMW gives free alignments. Also if you don't curb your rims or bang them up they do not need to be balanced all the time. $75 for an oil change? Most of the dealers "regular service" they do jack **** and charge you for it other than rotation, tire pressure, a few fluids and oil change.. Again show me how you get $1000 per year on a new or relatively new "G" (since that was what you said you estimate) for basic maintenance?

I added that while you were posting....

4 mobil 1 oil changes=$300
1 15000 mile service=$500
1/4 brake service (once over 4 years)=$100
Wipers, belts, etc=$100 a year

That is $1000 if my math is right (err... I said $750-$1000 anyway, but if you want to be a...). I even took out the alignment, BMW does not explicitly state they cover alignment, but they cover everything else (and probably alignment too). You should balance/rotate your tires every 5000 miles at a minimum, it is only included in the 15000 mile service, and I did not include that in my above estimate.

Here is a link to some info on BMW's free service.....
http://www.bmwusa.com/bmwexperience/...aintenance.htm

I personally love my G, and don't care too much for BMW's, my point was there are some other things to consider. IF you pay Infiniti for all the service you should have performed, it will be close to $3000 (the differnce between the 36K BMW and 33K Infiniti) over 4 years. If you can prove otherwise, I would like to hear your logic. Based on what you have posted today, I highly doubt you are going to give me a logical argument. Good luck....

From the BMW website:
Exclusions from coverage: gasoline, gasoline additives, windshield washer additives, tires, wheels, wheel alignment, tire balancing and rotation. They will however, cover your brakes if anything goes wrong or wears out.
Also, just to be accurate, if you configure the two cars similarly, adding the premium pkg and the sport pkg to the 330i, you end up with a cost for the BMW of 40,795. That's a lot of oil.

15000mile service for $500 is a pure rip off. you get an oil change, air filter, oh wow they lube the locks and hinges, cabin filter rotate tires (not even balance), and wiper blades, drive the car around the block and look at a few things. Ya that is worth $500 That is barely worth $200. My argument is that don't get fooled by bimmer free year service since it isn't worth that much in the big scheme of things as compared to G. Bimmers are crap unless you go with v8 or M series and brand new under warranty. The new 3 series styling is boring and dollar for dollar the G is a signficantly better car. You don't need to change belts very often. Blades once a year (included in your 15000 service). $75 for an oil change is also a rip off and 99.9% of drivers do not use Mobil 1 plus an oil change is included in your 15000. Shouldn't cost more than $500 tops to maintain a G a year especially if you change your own wiper blades/air filter and oil your door locks and hinges yourself.
