shift always before 2500 RPM, mostly aroung 2000 RPM.
G has 700 miles. Freeway speed ~ 70 MPG.
When warning light appeared display on NAV saaid 55 miles to empty.
I am pretty happy!. I am shooting for 28 MPG after break-in and 95% freeway.
My 03 maxima 6 speed can do 30 MPG on the freeway.
Pearl white + wheaat. NAV, 6 MT

My 02 Max was capable of very good mileage too, about 10% better than the Sedan.
Kudos.....good mileage these days is a plus.

I enjoy smooth shifts under 2500 RPM as well and the G moves well, plenty of torque there. Once in a while I will push her but why waste all that gas doing it all the time?
I prefer running the car lean and push it when necessary. Then I get to enjoy its power more.
By the way, freeway speeds of 70 MPH seeem to give me good gas mileage consistently; at least 26 MPG and car has only 700 miles.
Also I notices MPG indicator on NAV display is pretty accurate

How would shifting @ 2500 mess up your motor? Do you know this for a fact? Were or are you a mechanic? I was for 10 years. If your ever in an automatic and your driving "normally" in normal traffic do you think the tranny ever let's the RPM's get above 2000. In my opinion, if a motor with an auto trans is not messed up from "normal" driving, there is no reason why a motor with a manual trans should ever be messed up from shifting @ 2000 - 2500. IMHO
Defintely it may damage the transmission as you are driving in 3rd and 4th much below the recommended speed and how do you manage to shift below 2500 rpm , in that case there is no fun at all in driving a stick

My apologies for the harshness. I have no patience for people who present fallacy as fact. Here's the latter: Shifting at any point in the rev range that does not lug your engine will not hurt a thing. The VQ35 in my 6MT happily pulls as few as 1000 rpm -- maybe less -- at light throttle in higher gears while accelerating smoothly and without protest. Won't hurt a thing.
Really, people. If you don't know what you're talking about, why post messages like these that present your "ideas" as law? All you're doing is misleading the less technically informed folks here and killing your credibility.

I have been driving more agressive lately, shifting 2500_3000 RPM but gas mileage still pretty good. Finished break-in period. I am pretty happy with gas mileage . Its about the same of 6 MT 03 Maxima
AgisA:
Congratulations, you have undoubtedly taking the title for "Best MPG In A G35 6MT Sedan", and are to be commended for your conservation and constraint.
Conversely, science tells us that "for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction", and alas, methinks you have also garnered the crown "Least Fun Wrung Out Of A G35 6MT Sedan", as well!
Just kidding AgisA. I, too have found that "short shifting" is easily done with the "G", and do it often when I don't want/need hard acceleration, but I just don't have your self-discipline to stay out of the throttle for a whole tankful
