Smile 05 6MT goes green. 25.2 MPG 2nd gass tank

I just finished my secong gass tank. From filling up, no overfill, to warning red light on gause appearing ~ 16.5-17 gallons. I did 428 miles.
75% freeway, 25% city
shift always before 2500 RPM, mostly aroung 2000 RPM.
G has 700 miles. Freeway speed ~ 70 MPG.
When warning light appeared display on NAV saaid 55 miles to empty.
I am pretty happy!. I am shooting for 28 MPG after break-in and 95% freeway.
My 03 maxima 6 speed can do 30 MPG on the freeway.
Pearl white + wheaat. NAV, 6 MT

Wow, shifting at 2000 rpm?! Isn't it hard to accelerate smoothly that way?

LOL! I do not think have the restraint to pull that off. 12oz to 0 oz in about 1 minute.

sounds about how I will be driving as far as hwy/cty miles and top speed. I just got out of a lincoln LS and I was lucky if I got 15MPG under the same conditions. This will be a welcome change.

I am sure I will more than make up for any savings on the back streets near my house. I have a nice set of turns and straight aways that cater to spirited driving. I just need to brea thispuppy in first.

That's what I am saying!!! Going easy for me is shifting around 3500-4000! Granted my MPG sucks, but hey you gotta love the fun factor!

Why push the engine if not needed?

Yeh!
It's fun revving the engine to 4000-5000 RPM and shifting but why do all the time?
I enjoy smooth shifts under 2500 RPM as well and the G moves well, plenty of torque there. Once in a while I will push her but why waste all that gas doing it all the time?
I prefer running the car lean and push it when necessary. Then I get to enjoy its power more.
By the way, freeway speeds of 70 MPH seeem to give me good gas mileage consistently; at least 26 MPG and car has only 700 miles.
Also I notices MPG indicator on NAV display is pretty accurate

Are you doing this calculation based on the information inside the NAV?

No. based on actual gas filled

I measured gas from fillup(no overfill) to light warning fist appearance on fuel gauge. I think it is between 16.5-17 gallons; did 428 miles.
My estimated consumption matched with MPG on NAV which said 25.8 MPG

Buy a Honda Civic... trying to get 28mpg = no fun. You must be the type of guy I honk my horn at and speed my way besides him.

Usually the best way to measure your MPG is to fill it up, reset your trip meter, drive it until you fill up again. Fill it up and stop after the first click and don’t try to top it off. See how many gallons you put in, then divide that into the number of miles you drove in that trip.

I just drove from North Carolina to Texas and averaged 26.5 mpg in my sedan going about 80 mph. I have the 3.9 gears though

That is solid mileage ... I definitely was cruising slowly during the break-in period, but since then I've been driving like I stole it. Usually just cruising on the freeways, and a little more aggressive on the streets has been getting me 21-22, which is fine by me.

ZXiMan,
Do you have more info or have you already posted on your EVO350 gear mods? I would love to knock the gearing around so sixth gear isn't so damn short, spinning at 3000 at 80mph!
