Sirius Install: how to rout antenna wire into trunk...

Hi all,

New here, and just picked up an 05 G35x.

Car didn't come with satellite radio, so I've decided to take a shot at installing it myself after reading the articles here. Infiniti dealer wants $550 just to install the damn thing...

I'll be mounting the antenna inside the car, placed on the rear deck, but I don't understand exactly how/where to run the wire past the rear seat to get into the trunk. I REALLY don't want to have to remove the seat if I can avoid it. Is this possible?

Any help appreciated.

Don't pay the dealer. The install takes 15 mins! Just plug the SAT receiver in right behind the rear right seat, run the antenna wire from the rear deck right behind the seats into the trunk (you just need to probe around for an opening). I just bought the Sirius receiver and winshield mount antenna, I get great receiption through the rear window even though I have dark Huber Optic tint. Bought my unit and antenna online at www.grubbsperformance.com...when you sign up they give you 90 days free service and free activation.

adjust the rear seat backs all the way forward, there are cloth covers behind the rear seat backs, they are held on by velcro, just pull them apart, then you can route your wires through the left or right side of the rear seatbacks, then you have to removed some panels under the rear deck in the trunk.

hope this helps

The plan is to order the kit the first of the month or so.

I'll post pics of the install process, IF I decide I can do it myself.

Thanks.

Still have a Question............... Can you controll the SAT radio with the factory controlls?? Basically, does the SAT reciever you buy from Grubbs plug into the factory BOSE radio and if so, HOW?? If thats the case then I'll get one also, and I'll be awaiting your pics of the install.

Someone please chime in and advise. Thanks.............

Grubbs Sirius Kit
I believe the Infiniti part # is 999U9-NV004. Not positive.

As far as I understand it, the receiver plugs right into the pre-installed (on 03+ models) factory wiring harness, so its compatible with the factory radio, and controllable with the steering wheel controls.

Antenna on 'backorder' ......... ...... ........ ........... ............

Where is this factory wiring harness located? And where do you put the satellite receiver? Thanks.

This is the Infiniti factory receiver install manual, in PDF format.

From Grubbs' website.

Many thanks for the instructions, tips & photos found here that led me to do this myself. Not technically difficult -- the toughest part was wrestling with the trunk liners. Start to finish...approx 2.5 hours.
