Actually, a 14.497 rounds up to 15.0. We're talking about 3 thousandths here . But I understand. My best 60' is a 2.199, and you d@mned well better believe I count it as a 2.1 rather than a 2.2

Still a heckuva run. Not too many guys here who can claim a 14.5, manual or automatic, for any year with that 60-foot time. You can drive that thing, Dave.

Back on topic, if the 03 sedans were "handicapped", why is it they post some of the best track times and magazine times? It is very likely that Nissan did change ECM programming and such as the years progressed, but the data sure doesn't suggest that those changes were necessarily for the better when it comes to power.

Again, Motor Trend (whom corrects times for conditions to reduce bias) has tested a handful of G35 sedan 5ATs over the years. They've tested two 03s that got a 14.6@96mph and one that got a 14.6@97mph. They tested an 04 and got a 14.7@94mph and recently the 05 which got a 14.7@96mph. By looking at that data, I'd have to say the 03 might be the quicker car, especially when looking at trapspeed. I'm pretty certain my nearly stock 03 5AT could have gone low 14.3s at almost 99mph if I was running in 50 degree weather vs 70 degree weather and this is at a track 1100' above sea level. If I would have corrected my times like Motor Trend does for all their cars, my G would have run a 14.2@99mph according to them. I don't think my 03 is down on much power. Do you?
My 03.5 as it is setup now is much, much quicker than the 05 AT loaners that they have given me. I was actually considering a trade to an '05 6MT until I drove one. My AT car is quicker and pulls harder, hands down.

14.49 rounds of to 14.50 not 15.0... big difference. In any case, the way I see it a 14.49 is still a 14.4.

Of course it does, but transfer those mods to the 05 6mt, it will even be faster.

Let's be clear about this. Since it's me and my car, you'll get your panties in a bunch about my rounding. If it was someone else you wouldn't care

Truth be told, my car has run the following:

14.67@97.23 with a slow 2.34 60' (first run ever, idle launch)
14.49@97.59 with a 2.21 60' (2nd run, hotlap)
14.50@96.1mph with a 2.19 60' (2.5" shorter Drag Radials mounted, not ideal, forced shift to 4th 150' short of the finish line, car laid down when it hit 4th)
14.52@96.3mph with a 2.20 60' (hotlap, more of the same on DRs)

So there you have it, four runs total. Two on stock 17s and two on short 15" DRs which weren't ideal for the gearing of the car. Overall, it's safe to say the car is a mid 14 second car with above average trap speed when on the 17s. When people ask what it's done, I say a best of a 14.4. I'm not going to say 14.49@97.59mph. Ask any racer what they're best run is and they'll say "14.4". Hell even the announcers at the track and on TV say "14.4".
