Removing Door "Edge" Protectors

I don't know what to call them exactly, but can "ding" strips that go down the length of my sedan (on middle of the doors) be removed. I have heard of people adding them to some coupes, but I think my sedan would look cleaner if I could take them off. Just not sure if there are holes behind them either.

if you are talking about Body Molding, then it is a double sided tape thing

I dont oknw.. my take is that most of the cars that would ding yoru door are mini vans.. or suvs.. and these edge protectors wont help against those.. so.. im just going to take em off

So there are no holes? Just want to make sure before I yank them off and there are huge holes underneath. I need recommendations on how to get them off including the tape.

Re: Removing Door "Edge" Protectors

I had a Chevy Truck that I did this on back in the day, and it worked fine. It was a 1994 C-1500 with those huge ugly moldings. I keep my car covered 90% of the time and I doubt it is faded.

There are definitely holes underneath! I saw one at the body shop with them off and there were holes every foot or so.

Re: Removing Door "Edge" Protectors

Thanks for the heads up... They should put this in the faq so no one tries to pull them off.

Re: Removing Door "Edge" Protectors

i guess the smartest thing to do would be to check with dealer.

also, is there difference on installation of coupe and sedan. i think sedans come with them and coupes don't. so maybe it's adding them that's done with tape.
