Turanza EL42 losing grip...

Hello all...

I know it's a pretty beaten up topic...sorry. Doogie, I know your turanza's are hanging in your yard.

I have 6,000+ miles on my car now and the crappy turanzas are really losing grip. I mean it was never grippy to begin with but in the beginning it was ok. When I make a quick U-turn now it squeaks more and more now. Turanza guys out there, how many miles did you manage on them? The way it's going I'll have to get them change probably by spring time.

Haha...still waiting for the 18's to come along or wider 235's for the stock rim. I know...been talking about it for a while and keep putting it off...sorry for the disappointment Wayne

I only drive during the weekends anyway. Still buying time on what I should get.

Wow...I would never let it climb up to 42k miles. They are losing grip as it is at 6,000 miles. You got the 235's if I remembered correctly right? How is it so far?

Ohhhhh

I guess since I have the X it's a little better than the rwd's in the rain. I've driven it in pouring weathers and it was fine but obviously I drive within the limits. But I doubt I can tolerate the Turanza's for much longer.

You have the summer tires bud. Good for you. My turanzas have about 28k on them and sound and drive like shiiiit. Waiting until next spring and them i'm going for some better rubber. This car sure deserves it..

Mine only managed 12k miles before they were bald, squeely, and lacking grip. Of course, 1-2 autocross events a month will shorten the life of any tire. The only good thing about them is that they're progressive at the limit, and let you know they're losing grip in plenty of time to correct.

I'll refrain from posting what you already know

I got 17k out of my Turanzas and they still had about 25% tread depth left.

Anybody bother to rotate the Turanzas? Either 4 or 5?

i'm at 26k and they are really horrible at this point. the noise is pretty bad but the traction is even worse. i'm just trying to get these tires bald as soon as possible so i can get new ones (possibly with new rims too, hehe)

I am definitely not wasting any time rotating them. When I do get the chance, it would be rotating them into a dumpster.

With all the complaints here about the tire, at least they can get 42K miles before needing replacement.

I though that one of the problems might be short life.

I haven't had complaints about mine yet, but I don't push things too much.

Ryoken, didn't you go with a 235? Can you show a pic of what extra width looks like from behind the car?
