I heard that a station near my home spiked its price to $2.50/liter!
That's about $11.60 a gallon!......absolute bedlum.

I totally agree with DPO3, who said,

*And how dare liberals bring racism into such a sad situation? All for political gain. Without basis, and dispicable. Shame on the people that played this card....If these idiots knew in the first place that FEMA is not a first response organization, maybe they could have spoken intelligently. Instead, they succeeded in showing their moronic, twisted, and baseless views. Again. *

It is really getting old. Do all libs subscribe to a "Bash Bush" service, which they are required to follow? There is not an original thought in the bunch. For the record, I am pretty much apolitical. 24 years of military service will do that. We could not even display a political bumper sticker. (And, I will shoot the first person I see trying to put one on my G or my Ram!)

RetAF, I don't want this to be a political thread. It was not intended to be one, nor did I make it one. That being said, I am apalled by some of the "outspoken" on this subject, as is most of the country. Even the democratic party have reeled them in, knowing how damaging their statements were. Another big screw up. So how many more??

Now, we all know that many agencies got caught with their pants down with Katrina. FEMA admits mistakes and fired their leader. Bush apologized. Now we need a confession by the person that probably caused more deaths than anyone else due to their failures...Mayor Nagin. I doubt we'll ever see it. Read the articles and the facts, folks. This guy watched it all happen, and then blamed the Feds for something they couldn't respond to because they needed his authorization. The only reason thousands more weren't killed is because the Feds, once authorized and in charge, told him no. He didn't like it, but now parts of NO is under water again. HELLO Nagin??????? Anyone home?

And Jesse Jackson should just be plain ashamed....Period. Without knowing the facts, gets diareah of the mouth, craving attention. Regardless of which party you're affiliated with, it's hard to imagine anyone siding with this finatic....

I expect there will be some damage, but I don't see a total system shutdown. The storm is still 3 days out. A lot can happen. It's already reached Category 5 and usually when that happens the storm begins to suck it's energy out of the atmosphere too quickly and starts to drop in intensity rapidly.

I just love the media. "It's going to take 90 days to get the water out of New Orleans!!!!!!!!!!!!". Look at NO now, there's hardly any water left after 2 weeks of pumping. "There will be tens of thousands dead in NO due to Katrina!!!!". So far the death toll for Katrina is 1,000. "$3 gas is here to stay !!!!!!!!". Average gas prices dropped to around $2.45 as of last week.
Well there is lots of water again after the leavy breaches!

Temporary spike in prices caused by greed, and panic buying......

Prices now have stabilized at what they were before Rita made her entrance.
