Why would Acura use the new standards then, seems like it would be to their befit to use the old, 270 hp sounds better than 258 hp.

From http://nissannews.com/infiniti/2006v...m/specs.shtml:

M35, 280hp*

* All horsepower ratings are per SAE J1349 AUG2004
From http://www.sae.org/certifiedpower/details.htm:

J1349 was updated last year to eliminate some ambiguities that allowed engine makers to cite power and torque ratings higher than the engine's actual capabilities.
Is "AUG2004" after the time J1349 was "updated last year"?

If so... then the 280hp is accurate.

hmmm...I think you are right. The FX35 seems to have mantained the 280HP rating under the new SAE standard. The old standard is dated JUN1995
