05' X Brake Problem
Now .. before everyone starts speculating, remeber that for the 05 model year the X's Brakes are different (smaller) than the coupes & sedans. So, this refers strictly to the 05'X model.
Now for the issue. I have 13K miles on my 05' X and had an appointment this morning to have my brakes looked at because of excess front brake dust and squeeking noises.
Turns out that my front brakes were almost 95% gone and almost to the metal. The rears had plenty of pads left but, were making alot of noise.
So, They replaced both front and rear pads with the "updated version of the pads" all under warranty, no charge. (Smithtown Infiniti, Smithtown, NY)
I am not sure what the "updated pads" refer to, because this is an 05, but I wll investigate this further.
Bottomline, if any of you 05' X owners are having similar problems .. def. get it looked at soon.

yeahdickey,
Thanks for that info. I'm now at about 8500 miles, I'll be rotating my tires this week so I'll be taking a good look at my brake pads. I've seen many posts implying that the '05's are better when it comes to brake dust but I haven't seen much improvement.
I'm also a Competetion Infiniti customer so it's good to know that they are continuing to deal with brake issues...I'll tell them YeahDickey sent me.

i also purchased my car at smithtown. i have an 05 x with about 9300 miles..i do alot of hwy..no squeaking yet..im glad to hear they replaced them for you under warranty. i have a know a few people with the 05x's that are having brake issues.. How was your overall experience with them in regards with doing service with them. not to change the subject but i would appreciate your input...so far all ive done is oil changes and a tire rotation.

Service there was great. My service rep's name was Hiram Ortiz .. he was real cool and basically said they would do everything for no charge. I know they technically could have tried to charge me for it .. but, they agreed that the brakes should not be wearing that quickly and they did a good job. They gave me a loaner for the day too.

God....get rid of 'em and install the 'Metal Matrix' pads from Stillen. Work GREAT, not expensive ($100 +/- a set), and NO dust!.....I replaced mine (OEM) on my 04' before I had a hundred miles on 'em.... so I didn't even bother turning the rotors. Did so because I knew what I was in for (worked for Infiniti) and couldn't be bothered with all the warranty crap. Took me an hour to install in my driveway. Great 'bang for the buck'......but, I'll be go'in after-market rotors (drilled and slotted), pads, and stainless lines this spring. Check out the various (and plentiful) older posts via the 'search' concerning the 'Metal Matrix' and other brands of after-market pads. B.Cool

In theory yeah.........If your rotors have taken too much of a beat'n from the OEM pads, your warranty should cover the replacement of the front and the 'turning' of the rear. Just replace the stock with the after-market on fresh/new rotors. I just slapped mine on because there was less than a hundred miles on the car. You should always give new pads a fresh surface BCool, jbx Pictures below were taken this rainy morning (click-on to enlarge).....Pads have 8,500 mile on em' and wheels have gone over two week without a bath!..lol The Metal Matrix wear clean and do a great job (once their warmed up of course) jbx
