Again, thanks for the kind thoughts. For those who asked, I live in South Orange. I do not have a garage option, so it is in my driveway. I may move it down out of sight, but at least one group of thieves knows it lives here. It was parked where a motion-detector light should have come on. The repair shop people had a Lexus in from last night too. They said the thieves are brazen as it takes only a minute or two to do it. They said some guy was inside and saw them take his and ran out, but they were gone by the time he got outside.

The license plate was recovered in Sayreville on a car stolen from the Morristown area, so I should be able to get it back and skip the DMV hassle. They are dusting for prints first.

Has anybody built a metal cover to drive the front into? I'm not sure how I'd do it, but I am thinking about it.

Thanks.

Andy,

While nothing but time will heal the feelings of loss/violation, be glad it's only a car and not your family.

I parked my racecar in the street for 12 hours (it was *koff* street-legal) and came home after work to.......nothing. Stolen. 30k gone. Coverage stipulated "garage kept" and I got nothing. After a lawsuit, I pocketed less that 3k after atty. fees. Expensive lesson learned.

With that being said, these theives were persistent. Coming back after the cops were already there? Ballsy. No alarm the world would have stopped these guys.

Is there any possibility of installing an additional motion-activated light near your parking space?

Were there any personal documents taken showing important addresses?

-Sorry for your loss-

W

Chicago-X-Thanks. No, they didn't take any documents. The only one there was the insurance card and it was there. They didn't take my CDs or the radar dector, which was in the glove box but they threw it on the floor. The officer said they might have been looking for the valet key (I never would keep it in the car). Then they came back and took the lights. I had already removed any valuables, including the spare (full-size) and the jack handle with the key for the wheel locks.

I might try to add another light and maybe a camera. I suspect they came in an already stolen car, from the little my neighbor saw. She said it looked nice and European.-
Thanks.

One thing that might help you is a visual motion detector set to ultra-high sensitivity. I know people on these forums have installed them. They'll go off when someone sets foot near the door. I woud try aftermarket alarm and a motion sensor.

One of my friends used to have a real piece of crap car and had a HUGE speaker box in his back seat - it was incredibly ghetto. Anyway he glued razor blades up inside of the handles of the speaker box so if anyone broke into the car and went to pick up the speaker box, they'd be in for a brutal surprise.. although that might just provoke more violence, bahh who knows..

I didnt read all the threads so if someone mentioned this i'm sorry. i live in newark nj with a 05x, about 2 months ago they tried to go for my headlights but failed, anyway my sister friend has an 04 fx that they broke into twice. the first time they just ****ed the door up but werent able to get in. the 2nd time she came out side to find her windows rolled down and her car door opened. she went to the dealer to find out why the alarm didnt go off cause the doors where open. the dealer informed her that these guys now figured a way to mess with the door locks that it will actually roll the windows down due to that option of rolling down the windows with your key. anyway what they do is mess with your locks get the windows rolled down then just simply unluck from the inside wich does not set off the alarm. they also told her that theve been stealing manuels. they told her there reading manuels to try to figure out a way to steal the dam cars. anyway good luck.

The "factory alarm" is not really an alarm for your information guys...it's really just a keyless entry, don't be fooled.

Just get yourself a sniper rifle with a nightvision scope, post on the roof overlooking your car, and then squeeze gently as they try to jack your ride.

Sorry about the damage. Hope they catch those a-holes and string them up.

I like the idea of the Viper alarm system, along with renting garage space to get it out of sight.

If you open a door or trunk without the key, the alarm goes off, try leaving your window open, arm the alarm, wait a bit, then reach in and open the door, the horn and lights will be going off, it is not just a keyless entry, if your's doesn't work like that, you need to have it checked!
