I live in NY and I've noticed that I feel like I get more power out of my "G" in like 65-80 degree weather. Please let me know if there is a explanation for this or has everyone noticed the same.

cooler air is denser than warmer air. More air in the engine for the fuel/air mixture results in more power.

 

The big difference for me is that the AC is off

 

That why I am looking at installing a CAI on my G35.

 

The CAI benefits (or lack thereof on these cars) is a whole discussion in it's own.

But yes, cooler air will help every car. Some more than others. My Volvo S60R was particularly handicapped by the hot humid air. Turbo cars in general run hotter to begin with, and really wake up in the cool weather. But NA cars are much the same.

That's why the hardcare racers love the fall. That's when they get their best ET's.

 

What suggestions with the exception of the obvious forced induction could you use to induce more forced cooled air?

 

Most CAI really doesn't do what it sounds like they're doing. They sound deep because of a freer flowing air but not necessarilt colder. IMO the configuration of the G35 intake, it seems like it's pretty free flowing to me, however I'm sure you can get another 1hp with an aftermarket intake.

 

Yes my Gdoes it too so did my 02 Maxima, not only does it pull better but it also sound a little deeper. For me though it below 65, not 80 for my car. I guess mine doesn't like 80 degrees weather.

 

Cooler air is more dense and has more O2 = much better burn and power.

I look forward to not having to run the AC all the time. That suckers robs a lot of power. The cooler air should also help the go fasterness.

 

I think the stock CAI the G comes with is pretty good. But, if you want a little more air in the mix, probably a K&N filter. It's supposed to be more "free-flowing" - so more air goes through into the engine. My only concern is...if more air is getting through, are more dirt and particles also getting through? That's a whole different thread, though.
