I think it requires more than packing the bearings. I'm not sure exactly what's involved, all I know is that I was told parts were being ordered.

I had the same thing. They just fixed it on Thursday. My problem would occur when I would slow to a stop. My work order said, "Repair Rear Drive Shaft - Both Sides".
I don't think this was normal because it took a few visits to figure it out. They would service my brakes, take apart the e-brake assembly and it would go away for a few months then come back again. Now they fixed the Rear Drive Shaft and so far so good. I'll have to see how it goes after a few months.
