Dull Spots in Paint
I just spent a good 6 hours detailing by car between yesterday and today. After the claybar and the first layer of Klasse Polish, I found that there are some dull spots in the paint. I thought I did a bad detail job (missed spots), but then I worked on a dull spot by repeating the clay bar, Klasse Polish, then Klasse Sealant, and the dullness was still there. I was using clean/new terry towles, so I guess there are just random dull spots throughout the paint on the car? I've had the car since January and its been garaged parked its whole life. Kinda of dissapointing.
These dull spots are just small patches, maybe a few 1-3 inches x 1-3 inches in size. There are 2 or 3 on the hood and roof as well as random spots around the car.
Anyone else experience this or know how to get rid of it? What can cause this?

Weird. This is on the DG car in your sig, right? I know it's unlikely, but any chance we could get a picture? It sounds like it might be a bird poop etching, but the Klasse AIO should have taken that out, provided you're working by machine, and not hand.
It seems strange that it would be a) a factory defect or b) a clearcoat failure on a new car that has been garaged. So my initial guess is acid rain/bird crap etching. Try to take a picture if you can. If it's either of those you can polish them out no problem.

I had the same problem, until I got some professional help...
My girlfriends father is actually (and god damn if I knew this before I woulda been all over her even worse) very good friends with Sal Zaino. The leather conditioner he makes (Z10, leather in a bottle) was actually originally desigined for my girlfriend's horse saddles when she couldnt find anything that would work on that thick of leather, so, obviously, he helps them out whenever he can. He was the one who reccommended (and proved it worked quite well) the Z18 clay bar and the Z2 polish. If these dont work, then you probably got something chemical on your car... but usually thats a lil more apparent than a dull spot.

I had a similar problem very early on. I noticed it at the first wash, but was pretty sure it wasn't there when I bought it.
The entire right wing, hood and about 5" of the passenger door were peppered with tiny dull spots about a mm in diameter. It looked like something had splashed the car.
The dealer agreed that this shouldn't have happened on a car that has only been around town and to work and back, and sent it to a good body shop. They wet sanded it (scary cos it's black) and buffed it. It came back looking beautiful agaiin and all under warranty.
By the way I made the dealer promise that if the paint got messed up they would pay to have it resprayed.

The fact that it was wetsanded and polished back to a shine means that it was something in the clear coat - hard to say what, could be any number of things (something at the factory, the dealer, or off the road), either way that's why i suggested originally that the OP's problem was bird crap etchings. Those often look very much like dull spots, since they literally etch into the clear a fraction of a mm, and create an uneven, textured, and dull look.
The nice thign about bird etchings, or any etchings that aren't through the clear is that they can easily be polished out with a machine, or even by hand some of the time.
Pictures would be a huge help in a case like this.

Well, you can not see this at all, only feel it by hand. I've not had any bird turds on my car, so I know that is not it.
It is weird and that is why I asked. But as for the post above, I waxed my car by hand. I am a bit weary of using machines as I don't have steady hand and would hate to have accidental damage on the car.

That is weird. Well, if it really bothers you one thing I would suggest is grab a tube of Megs ScratchX (available at any pep boys), and try it on the spots. If it's an etching of any sort it should take it out, and if you use it correctly you certainly won't add any damage, so it's worth a shot.
