what do you think? you see the next gen G35 to top out around $44,000?
or do you think it will remain loyal to its customers and try and be the value car in the 35,000 sedan categorie (which is quickly moving up to the $40,000 sedan categorie)

My assumption is: the next gen G sedan base model would probably start right between the price of an auto IS250 and IS350, that means it would start at around $33,500. Fully loaded one may just be slightly higher than the 06, probably at $40,000.

I think the next gen will have a G25 and G35/40. The rumored CX crossover is supposed to get a VQ25 option as well as a VQ35. I would think that Infiniti will price the G to be cheaper than the IS and 3 series. Infiniti is climbing the snob meter pretty fast, but it is not there yet.

Nissan always delivers a competitive car for less. I'm sure performance will go up a little (320hp) and the interior will be more fancy. Thus, like TwiBlue, I expect the starting price to be $33-$34 with more option choices. However, what do I know? If gas prices stay high, can we keep expecting performance to go up? All the cars out now or shortly coming out, were all designed and planned back when gas was cheap.

I think performance will continue to increase, at least in the American market, until American's demonstrate that they are concerned about gas prices.

Everyone complains about gas prices, but I don't really see consumption decreasing. Do you? I believe the market would have to send a pretty strong message in this regard before it makes a significant impact on what automobile manufacturers are doing. They'll keep offering performance cars as long as they have high MPG models to offer as well.

I heard on the radio this morning that Toyota can't keep the Prius in stock because of demand, and other car companies are scrambling to put out hybrids.

The Toyota Prius has the craziest waiting list right now, at least 3 months, maybe more.

I think they might keep the current G almost the same, maybe modest increases in price and performance and also come out with a 4 cylinder (similar to the old G20).

With the M slotted right above the G, they can't necessarily take the G too much further upstream. The A4 and 3 series will continue to be the competition, so just have to stay in step with them at a few thousand dollars less. The value will always be there ... I mean infiniti came from out of nowhere with the G and look where they are at today. It would be a nice fantasy come true to see a Nismo type divison that is putting out G35 Type Rs or what have you ... but not anything that aftermarket stillen parts can't get us today.
