Hi gang,
I've got a black 2005 sedan (AT) with 17" factory rims. Trying to decide which rims to buy. Any suggestions? 19" staggered is what I was thinking. Not sure which brands are good, hows the new tenzo GT5s? Also, do I need to drop? I don't really want to mess with the suspension. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Man, there are just SO MANY options depending on what you're trying to accomplish and how much jack you're willing to spend. Are you going for cosmetics only? Trying to make the car handle better? Trying to make it faster? These answers will start to narrow down the field.Originally Posted by G35HAWAII

SSR Sp1 are gangsta. Everyone gives props to SSRs, HREs, WORKs, any Rays Engneering line up (VOLKs, GrimLights, etc.)... but Tenzo-R's? are you kidding me? hehe, they got GENERIC and CHEAP written all over 'em. Even though they made a good copy of 'em schumacher's.
Thanks for the input gang. I know that the options are many. I was looking for something lighter than the OEM rims to improve handling and speed. I don't have a whole buch of $ to spend but I didn't want to buy something "cheap" and "generic". I was thinking around the $3k ball park with tires, is this possible or too cheap? Also, what about the offset? What offset do I need (for staggered)?

For 3K you will be able to get something pretty nice, you may be able to find a deal on Volk's, Racing Hart, or something similar....
For stagered fitment you will want to go with:
Front 8" with a +33 to +38
Front 8.5" with a +35 to +39
Rear 9" with around a +40 to +45
Rear 9.5" with around a +45 to +48
One of the best setups I have seen is a 8.5 front with a +38 offset and a 9.5" rear with a +45 offset.
I would say you will want to lower your car, especially if you go with 19" or 20" wheels, it just looks a lot better. But, put the wheels on and see what you think....

you like the bbs style (mesh)?
you like 5 spokes (star)?

I had the same problem. Ended up with 350z springs and 19's. i think staggered 19's look better on our cars then 20's. 20's are a tad to big, and to common... but they still dont look bad.

I was thinking of going with a 19" black 5 spoke (star) rim. I like the speed star sp-1 but when I went to the tirerack site I couldn't find a fitment for my 05 sedan? Also, what brand/size tires are you guys running? I was thinking of taking skeleton_cru's advice and going with a 8.5 front and 9.5 rear.

I would call Gruppe-S and talk to them about what sizes/offsets are available for these wheels. They are a sponsor here and have a good rep.

SP1's have been discontinued, but there may be a few sets they made before going out of business that are still for sale.
