I have put in a Z-tube, K&N, and Motodyne 5/16 spacer. The car drives so much better in my G35x. Revs seem to stay on longer. Power is up as well. Butt dyno says minimum 10hp gain. And the engine bay looks completely stock.

stillen airbox
ztube
kinetix pleneum

pro-1headers/testpipes
stillen exhaust.

I saw descent gains at 231whp on my allwheeldrive G. A RWD with the same mods would see higher numbers.

My car has a very obnoxious sound to it, and I am getting tired of it myself. I am currently waiting for a set of highflowcats from Kinetix Racing. With the test pipes the car sounds like crap. At regular driving the raspiness between 2-4k RPMs is so raspy that it sounds like metal hitting metal. Although the car does sound beautiful at WOT. I don’t recommend test pipes to anyone. Spend the extra money on the highflowcats.

Other than that Im happy with my gains and the sound of my car at WOT. I do not have a ts reflash because there is not one offered for the x, or else i would have gotten one immediately after my last exhaust mod.

im going to try and get a sound clip of my car up in this thread sometime later.

I've got a Nismo CAI and the Stillen Gen II Cat-back exhaust on my '05 6MT. I don't use the cutout on the CAI, so it's a little louder then it has to be at WOT. The Stillen Gen II was a bit intrusive for the first 1k miles or so, but it's settled down some now. You can definitely hear it when you hit the gas, but it's nothing you can't talk over. No droning, either. Also, I don't know if it was the Nismo CAI or the Stillen engine brace (I installed them at the same time), but shifting is much smoother now, especially from first to second.

Hey JBX, How's it hangin?

Hope all is well out east.

On that APS Plenum, did you put in a strut brace as the site says? From you pictures it doesn't look like it. Is it just necessary for a 350z? I'll do a search when I get a few minutes, I'm sure you have a good thread on it somewhere.

On thread topic, I changed to the Z-tube and a coupe mid-pipe. I love the z-tube without reservation. The coupe mid-pipe is great 80% of the time but there is what I consider (but many do not) a significant amount of drone at 25-40 miles per hour in the 1500-2200 rpms.

I take a number of clients out in the car and that is my only complaint. Everyone loves how the car sounds at WOT and from outside the car. I can barely tell the difference on the highway. It is during accelleration from a stop. Mostly the car sounds deep and throaty. I have considered taking it off due to the drone though.

No, not many recent posts. Just too busy.

Did you ever have the coupe middy without the HKS muffler? How's the Stillen Gen II sound by comparison?

I just installed my z-tube last night. For the price, it's a good buy. I did notice the sound and kick at about 3000+, but it really didn't sound THAT much better. Maybe it's becuase it's getting cold or whatever. But I did notice a bit of smoother acceleration. Overall, good buy for the price and simplicity of the install.

no issue with test pipes, if you car is still new enough(minimial rust on exhaust) you can take out the cats yourself and put in a set of high flows with just some jackstands. if its rusted up forget about doing it yourself.

headers are a competley different story on the x. it took a real good shop using 2 guys 8 hours to swap my stock exhaust manifold for the pro-1 headers. they even had to drop the steering rack. they fit in there pretty tight the problem was just working around the awd system, so i was told. i couldn't even imagine trying that myself although some on here have done it on their rwd g.

goodluck with any decisions you make. dont go with testpipes tho, my only recomendation.
