Should Infiniti make an "M" type version of the G Sedan?

Would buyers be interested in a 380-400 hp SEDAN at a price point around 10K-15K under that of the M3? Tweak the body style a bit and make it wider/lower with some nice performance wheels/tires. Audi, Mercedes and BMW all have "special" performance sedans...I think an addition to the Infiniti stable would only increase the brands "performance" reputation.

It is called the 2007 GT-R. I am sure Nissan would try to beat the M3 in price.

Absoulutely. However, it would have to = the upcomming m3's performance and feel. For some reason Most Greman cars have a solid feel lacking by other nations cars. So far the G is the closest one.

...GTR's price is going to be way over current M3 price for sure.
...10~15k under M3 price w/ that much of hp is just a dream.
so how much you looking for...50g car w/ 380~400hp sedan?
i highly doubt.

It's called the 300 SRT. Not even 50k either - and not so sporty when you get down to it either. The new M3 will be 75k stripped I bet.

He asked if Infiniti should make a car to compete with the new M3, not chrysler. Albeit the SR-T 300C is bad ***, i saw one on the back of a truck before it was even out for sale, its not an infiniti. I doubt infiniti will be making anything like what this guys asking about short of the new GT-R, if it ever goes into production.

The new SRT 300 is nice, and I'm glad that they are coming out with inexpensive big-muscle cars because of what it does for the industry in general, focusing on performance...

It's not quite as fast as you'd think, though, for the $45K... mainly because the SRT 300 weighs in at over 4200 pounds!!! I like my speed with good handling and braking, please. Thanks.

GT-R is not a SEDAN.

.... I would absolutely be interested;
But keep it as a pure sport model (light, tight & fast)

Even bumping the G up to 350hp would be a huge thing. Lexus managed to build the IS430 test car - it can be done. With the current weight, you'd probably be at around 5 sec 0-60. It's absolutely possible and I think it's something Infiniti has to do if they truly want to compete with MB and BMW in the long run. They've already talked about it but haven't made a commitment. GTR will be at least 80K (probably more due to limited availability), and I think BMW will likely run the new M3 around the same price or slightly more - it's still a 3-series. Any more expensive and they'll start to eat up M5 sales.

This would be nice - but 1st a re-work on the interior design would be even better...

JMHO,
I'll keep the interior if I can get the performance.

A VK powered G would be nasty! I think it would fit under the new skyline coming in @ approx $70l With the M35 and M45 being in the next size up, there might be room for this type of car. If marketed as a high performance version, it could be priced above or right at the M35 price with no problems
