Oh, wow. I can't believe you dug that one up!

I forgot that I said that a year ago. You are right. What a difference a year makes. I guess I'm getting soft in my old (well, another year older) age.

I hope you did not get the 6 spd TL as that is just an awful car to drive with the torque steer. The automatic TL has significantly less torque steer and torque steer is really a non factor with the automatic. The TL is a really nice car, but the 6spd is undriveable if you are any kind of enthusiast.

Just kidding, calm down Those are nice (besides the FWD, nose heaviness etc). So, are you going to start messing with Gs on the street now?

Nope, I got an automatic. I went into it knowing that the 6-speed TL was aweful with torque steer. Plus, I got rid of the G35 mainly because the 6-speed was wearing on me with my commute. If I was thinking of a 6-speed TL, I would have kept my G35 which, being RWD and better balanced, would be more fun.

I won't be messing with any Gs any time soon or ever. I have no doubt that my 6MT G was quicker and better handling than my new TL. The TL is a great cruiser but it isn't a true sports sedan (in my opinion). The FWD configuration proves that in my book.

Congrats on the purchase of your new TL. I have noticed the HP on the 06 Tls have gone down a bit, was that to correct Torque steer?

You ask why would I do such a thing? My 6MT was wearing on me too much with my 55 mile commute (1.5-2 hours in heavy traffic). I thought about just getting an '06 G35 5AT sedan but the fit-and-finish issues, noisy interior, and some other things kept me away.

I was really leaning towards the '06 Lexus IS250 (a fully-loaded IS350 is too pricey for a commute car in my book) but the lack of availability, inability to negotiate pricing, and financing options made the TL a better choice. The IS is a really nice car with perfect fit and finish but I would have probably tired of the wimpy engine.
Congratulations

I actually traded in a '05 Acura TL auto/Navi for an '05 G35x/navi/premium also and I'll agree w/the interior assembly/look statement, but the squeaks and rattles were actually worse in the TL - but you get a real sound system to droned them out. Plus the TL Navi w/Bluetooth is sorely missed also, but there are always trade-offs. I'd say I'm only about 10% happier now w/the G35x over the TL, mostly because the power train is just exceptional over the TL overall - but nevertheless they are both great cars.

Now about the Lexus IS350 - the minute the come out w/an AWD version of that car, I'm in big time regardless of the price difference

Good luck....

TL Power

The reason the TL power is listed lower is because they retested it under the new SAE standards. It still makes the same power as last year's model despite the change in reported power.

congrats on the tl, it was a real tossup between the g35x and the tl. I drove each one several times, the tl in both auto and stick. The stick was no good, too much torque steer and i really didnt like the clutch, its dead for most of the travel except the top 3 inches.. weird. Ive driven alot of sticks, bimmers to trucks, this was the first one i really struggled with.

It really came down to the wire between the the auto tl with nav and the g35x, when i couldnt find the g in the color i wanted,(in an 05) i was ready to sign for the tl, but i couldnt believe how crappy their lease rates were.
I suspected a car with a sticker price of anywhere between 5-7 grand less than the infiniti would be cheaper if not the same. But the monthly payments on the 05 tl with nav was way more than the monthly lease price on even an 06 g35x.
Wound up with the 06 g. The tl really has it going on in the interior, better mats and much nicer navi. Between the 05 cars, the tl was way way ahead, but with the 06 g having Bluetooth and a better navi (still no touchscreen), i think the rift is much closer on the tech front.

And the g back seat is pretty friggin noisy compared to the tl, but im still sure i made the right choice. Everytime i slam the gas i cant believe im driving such a nice car, balanced chassis, awd, power out the as$...

The TL is friggin sweet, if i were buying I'd get it over th G. Im glad i leased the G though, screw the noise.

Congrat on your new TL nice car nonetheless
or you should do the same as me. I commute around 80-90 miles round trip a day in from LA county to OC everyday. My daily commuter is my very dependable Civic 5mt. Very easy to drive, great Honda stick feel, light clutch, very nimble handling. And 100 hp is same as 260 hp in stop and go traffic. And one more thing...I am averaging 35 mpg.
