I thought the speed6 was still tied up in port with no models released to US dealerships. I've been told that it will be a few more weeks until any are available for test drives.

I was not sure if any dealerships had any - so that's why I was asking the question. I will be driving one as soon as I can, so I'll repost this if that is the case.

Big rip-off if you ask me. The Subaru legacy is faster with a better AWD system. Subaru is also much better in terms of reliability than Mazda and the legacy is cheaper too boot than the Mazdaspeed.

I agree about the AWD system. No question that Subes system is better than the Haldex setup, overall.
Not sure which is faster, haven't seen any timeslips yet.
Reliability has yet to be determined.
@ $32k you get 271hp, AWD, 6-speed manual, Nav, Xenons, leather, etc. Can't get that combo on a Legacy.
Sounds like a good deal to me. The interior of the Speed6 is decent, and offers more features than the Legacy.
Sounds like the Speed6 is a rear sway bar and R32 Haldex mod away from being a nice handler.

What would I buy? A G35x- Bummer about the auto

And I think I read the Mazda's AWD system will be 100% FWD biased until needed. I had that setup on my Volvo S60R, and I much prefer the RWD bias of the G35. But that being said, I bet the Mazda will be nice, and I'm willing to bet that it'll be pretty quick too, if they've managed to keep the weight down on it.

Gotta agree. I don't think the 6 is a rip, but I'm inclined to lean towards the Legacy GT. Then again I haven't driven the 6, so we'll see.

Of course in this segment I'd go with the G35 in a heartbeat.

I was waiting and waiting for this car.. still nothing. I missed out on the 05 g35x deals because i waited.. When i read some of the final specs and read it was almost as heavy as a g35x, i pulled the trigger on a 06 infiniti. It does look like a nice car, but heavy, and since it wouldnt be worlds apart performance wise from my g, why not get the g. Pretty good deal too since it msrps for so much less, but its a moot point since i would be leasing.
Also first year of any new car is gonna be 1) no really good deals, 2) reliability questions.

Still when it comes out, I think i'll go in and check it out, should be a fun drive.

Subaru reliability is top 5 which is much better than Mazda overall. Plus the Legacy was tested around 5.8 0-60 and the last Mazdaspeed 6 estimate was around 6.5. I think it weighs a ton more than the Legacy. I do agree that the 6 has a better looking interior but a FWD bias AWD system doesn't sound like such a great deal. Plus there are probably a TON more mods for the legacy due to the drivetrain being in the WRX.

The fact that Ford=Mazda and Mazda=Ford is enough to put me off.
