Thanks for your input.

Don't ever, EVER, under any circumstances, no matter what, even if your life depends on it, repeating...DON'T EVER buy the Turanzas. They're pretty much the worst tire ever made. Watch this thread, I'll get lots of support on this.

Turanzas are good if you like a tire that makes little noise and gives even less performance!

i had mxv4+ energy's on my '01 accord and i didn't like them very much. they slipped a lot (yes on that crappy 4cyl engine) and the traction was pretty bad in the rain. on the other hand, they were pretty quiet tires.

i don't have experience with the turanzas

Get the S03 or Michelin PS2. My friend has the S03 on his IS300 and those things stick like glue

What Teeter said.

I'm the official "if you buy this tire you deserve what you get" spokesperson on several G35 forums.

Turanzas are deathtraps.

Getting on soap box....

I fail to understand why people look for the cheapest tires they can buy....

Tires being the direct link between car & pavement are one of the most important parts of any car.
(along with brakes)
Spend a little extra coin & get some quality meats, you won't be sorry.

Getting off soap box...

SO-3's are high performance tires. they also get VERY loud once they start to wear. MXV4's are great tires. Very quiet, and great tread life. if you treat them right, should get 50-60k out of them. (i.e. balance, rotate, and align tires every 5k miles) however they are not performance tires. dont expect exceptional grip from them.

If you look at Tire Rack reviews, the Turanzas you are talking about which are not really high performance but are supposed to give you some poor weather handling, don't do that very well either. They get about the worst reviews they could get, from over 400 people. the Michelins are not rated all that great either, the average person said they might "possibly" buy them again. Michelin spends a lot of money on advertising and while this may not apply to all their lines, they do have many that "bubble", which to my mind is a lot worse than poor tread wear, noise, etc. because the latter don't lead to a blowout on the highway without much warning. I am prejudiced because of an experience like this with Michelins and no honoring of warranty though it was clearly defective.

I am considering the YOKAHOMAS 215/55/17 for $106 per tire at tirerack; I would prefer them not be directional tires (directional limit the roration choice especially if there is the persisting pulling to the right steering) but based on the price and the reviews they seem to me the best choice.
