Re: Dealer tried to make a fool of me

I called Infiniti consumers affairs. They're comment was "It is our policy not get involved with the sales practices of our dealers. They are independently owned and operated"

I told them that this is riduculous b/c they are representives of the Infiniti corporation.

Anyway, The representative filed a ticket/claim and it will be forwarded to the sales department @ the dealership.

Re: Dealer tried to make a fool of me

Wow - that is unbelievable. Not the response I got when I called them. In fact the person that "resolved" my problem, gave me her direct number to call if there were any more problems.
Her name was Ida Cohen, 310-771-3749.
You've got nothing to lose by calling her and say you had a bait and switch problem with your dealer. See what she says. If she asks where you got the number, say from someone she helped in the past.

You should also let the dealer know you are going tell of your experience, and name their dealership, on as many enthusiast sites as you can.
This is a legitimate problem and you should not let them get away with it. I am not a fan of negatively throwing names around but this is warrented.
Someone else will definitely take your business. Shop around.

i think you'll have to pay more than invoice, particularly if you want the 6mt. Edmunds.com lists the true market value of a similarly equipped coupe at just under 35K.

but call or email Rob Ridgeway at Infiniti of Willow Grove. rridgway@infinitiwg.com 215-784-9320

Re: Dealer tried to make a fool of me

As a former Nissan salesman I can tell you that the survey is where you're going to bury the dealership...If they receive anything less than an "Excellent" rating they receive a Zero from the corporation...That's huge...The salesman will more than likely have to answer to his Assistant Sales Manager because they'll get dumped on, the Sales Director, and the GM of the store...Nissan/Infiniti have been duking it out with other manufacturers for top Customer Service ratings and take it very seriously...Unfortunately, the corporate headquarters doesn't like stepping in too often, so use the survey and definitely confront the Sales Director and GM of the dealership and let them know you intend to list them as a terrible dealership to buy from customer service-wise on several websites, and to as many people as will listen- word of mouth is the meat and potatoes of a dealership's business...Bad referrals means bad numbers as far as sales...As an extreme example, a man who thought he got baited and switched and jerked around where I used to work picketed by himself on the sidewalk and the GM personally ran out and sat him down in his office and made his deal for him...The BBB gets dealership complaints all the time, and honestly I've been in the meetings- the dealership laughs at lawsuits and BBB complaints- the average dealership has invested $35 to $45 million and has huge cash to get themselves out of trouble...Hopefully this little insight will help...Best bet is to march into the dealership, demand an audience with the Director of Sales and have names of corporate personnel you've talked to and what they've said, phone numbers they've given on paper- write as much as you can...Dealers respond to things on paper- it's our negotiating tool...You won't get a car out of the situation, but you may get a smoking deal...

Re: Dealer tried to make a fool of me

Unfortunately, you get a survey to fill out after you bought the car, you have already get pissed many times, your money has been made by the dealer you don't like and most sales could care less about the past customers as long as they can keep fool the upcoming car buyers.

Re: Dealer tried to make a fool of me

That may be true about the dealership you worked at. But I had trouble with a dealer. They ignored my letters and phone calls.
I filed a complaint with the BBB and the NEXT day after BBB mailed the complaint to them, they called me to settle my problem.

Re: Dealer tried to make a fool of me

Just as a quick side-note...Calling and writing a dealership won't do anything- showing up there will...Ever notice how the sales team doesn't like getting specific over the phone unless they're promising you the world? We are expressly told not to work a deal over the phone, and the same rule is applied to complaints...Since we're trained that the only serious customer is one that has entered the dealership, driven the car, and has begun negotiations, they will treat an upset customer the same way...If you show up there upset and want to confront the issue, then you're serious, otherwise your just another ghost on the phone...Since I don't sell anymore, I have no problem letting you all know how they really act and think...Ever wonder why they want you to sign your offer, give them a check, cash, credit card, or something you need like your keys? They're getting the "Three Cs"...Cash, Credit, and Committment...It's all just control tactics...The credit is necessary- no point in negotiating if you can't buy the car...The cash or whatever else they hold means you can't leave until they want you to, and the signing is not a contract, it's to make you believe everything they say about your offer being ridiculous and enable them to bump you in payment...I'm sure we all think that we know how to beat their system, but I hate to break it to you all that it's like Vegas- the house wins...Even if you think you won and got them at invoice or just above, they won- they got rid of another unit and they'll get you in the back of the deal...Even us former salesman don't make out too well, and we know what they're going to do...Watch the numbers they show you for your trade- that isn't what you're getting for it...If you really want an insight into the auto sales world, find a movie called "Suckers" and rent it- the negotiation parts and the sales meetings are frighteningly close to what really goes on...The plot gets stupid at the end, but the basics are damn realistic! Sorry for the long post...

Re: Dealer tried to make a fool of me

Thanks for the insight and taking time to write a long post. So I guess there really are reasons for car salespeople stereotypes... But they can actually be nice people outside the showroom, just like some attorneys and realtors...

Re: Dealer tried to make a fool of me

Great posting of the process.
If you do enough research, you know how the game is played. The dealer ALWAYS makes money no matter what they say. They will basically always lie to you. But, it is a business and they need to make a profit which I have no problem with. I would never expect a car dealer to sell below what they paid-that is stupid business.
That being said, you should still always fight to the end to get the best deal you can. After all, it is YOUR money until you hand it over.

Re: Dealer tried to make a fool of me

When i was 18 I sold toyotas...the fact they let an 18 year old sell cars was nuts in the first plasce but i knew the products before the first day. A guy came in with an audi 4000 that was 4 years old and we used to do the 4 squares with down $, trade value, monthly pmt, and loan term. The guy drove a supra turbo with targa and heres my managers 4 squares after we got him to write a deposit check....i quit and never forgot these figures.

Trade in value on 4 year old 4000 audi - 2500 (prob not far off)
Lease pmt 650
down money 6000
term 60 months

And they were pissed the guy left without purchasing! Then they were pissed I left without notice. Toyota is still bad i hear as they have the best products in many classes...jim moran sux too as he used to add on electric windows that barely worked and 900 underbody coating. Sleezballs
