I bought my G in August of 2002 so it is a 2003.0 model. I had alot of warranty issues but Infiniti took care of all of them, no questions asked. Being it was a first generation model, I knew this going in and expected fixes. Since the first build of the G35 all of those "issues" have been worked out.

I think the consensus of the group here is if you want a sportier car, go with the G35. If you want more comfort (softer ride) get the Avalon. Like you said, both are well made cars.

GET A G35 SEDAN AND BE DONE WITH IT

But hey, we are all G35 owners so we might be a bit biased

The Toyota is a beautiful car and by no means should be disreguarded.

Just a preference.

They are both fine cars. Each has its own different characteristics. It really boils down to your preference after having had test driven both cars. Good luck to you on your future purchase. I trust you will enjoy many safe miles with your final decision.

Oh, I would push for the G Sedan, but then again this is a G biased group, here.

I have decided to go with the G. Thanks for all your comments. I will be looking to order a 2006 G35 in spring 06.

I also want to do mods to the car and the avalon doesn't have any.

I'm little late to the thread but I am currently considering selling the G and getting an Avalon, either the Touring or an XLS. Reasons for considering the switch:

- The G's lack of sufficient noise insulation has worn on me over the last 2 1/2 years.
- The spike in gas prices in Florida shocked the hell out of me (I get 17 mpg, 70% city driving).
- The back seat is a little cramped with two child seats and bending over and squeezing in to buckle up the little ones has become a small chore.
- When cold, my AT is beginning to feel mushy (55K miles).
- I want more elbow room... a more spacious feeling cabin.

My mind was all made up to go shopping next month, and then yesterday I take the exit ramp off the Turnpike at a spirited velocity, the G just squatted and planted it's tires to the asphalt and held the curve like nobody's business . So I thought to myself... "I'll never feel like this in an Avalon, maybe I need to think about this some more..."

So I'm undecided once more....

I feel your pain. I looked seriously at the Avalon before getting my G. Sometimes I wonder but then the same thing happens. The G is so competent that I can live with it's ideosyncracies. Good Luck with your decision.

HEHE... Thats why I asked the question because its been hard to make a decision, but I want a sport sedan. Once I test drove the G I said that is car is awesome. Handles good, great power, reasonable comfotable, and love the sound under WOT. Hopefully I will be able to get a good deal on one.

The G is not a luxury sedan, so you will have this "sporty" feel with the louder cabin noise. This is also why the backseat and cabin are a little cramped. So, you basically have to decide if you want a sport sedan (the G), or a family sedan (like the Avalon).
