Tinting at the dealership?
Tinting at the dealership?
Has anyone had the dealer install windiw tinting? If so, how much did they charge. I remember reading another thread where the dealer was not responsible for fixing a window squeak since the owners car was tinted by an independent dealer.
In most (if not all) cases, the dealer is not actually tinting - they contract out with someone that comes to the lot and tints. The fact that you pay the dealer should hold clout if you have problems.
I had mine tinted by the guy that tints for the dealer, but I did the deal directly and cut the dealer out (dealers add for their profit of course). He still went to the dealer's lot and tinted before I picked the car up.
The bottom line, dealers are not going to contract with a tint shop (or guy) that does shoddy work - so you shouldn’t be too concerned.

Yeah but you also gotta remember that the dealership is gonna contract the work to the one who gives the lowest bid, especially if you are getting the tint thrown in free. I know my dealer said that the free tint is costing him $180 when he threw it in. I decided to decline it and go for higher quality film elsewhere. I happend to be in the dealership on another day and they had a car that was sitting on the floor with tints. The sticker had $400 added to it for the tints! So you can imagine the markup. For that price you can get ceramic tints all around.
Well..........that's not the case here, the dealer deals with a top-end tint shop, there are a lot of shops that charge less, and at least when I bought my '04, the tint was under $300. On my '05, don't know the cost, he threw it in!
