Elite Extended Protection Plan?

Has anyone considered this? My car is coming up on 40K and it would cost 2300 to extend my warranty an additional 72 months of 82k?

If you're really planning on keeping the car for 72 more months; go for it. alot of expensive things can happen in 6 years. By the way which dealer quoted that price?

Southwest Infiniti in Houston. I'm not sure if that was because we bought and FX from them not too long ago and they were trying to get us to buy 2 plans. I'm thinking of emailing a bunch of dealers to see if they will out bid each other since its an Infiniti warranty.

If you're planning on keeping the ride.....it would be a good idea, but shop around. There's a monster markup on those warranties.

If you do get it do not pay ungodly amounts, the dealer cost for that plan is $750, and their list is $1750. Since you are is not brand new I dont know how it changes anything. You can also try a third party like API or warranty direct.

p.s. I got this plan when i got my 06 coupe, 2 days ago and he was asking 1750. I told him I know your cost is 750 and Ill pay 1200, take it or I am walking. His jaw dropped, and after he collected himself, he said how did I know this. "Through some well informed G35 owners I know " says me I guess I could have started lower but it was late and I just wanted to get my car.

Those bastids!!! (Collect yourself...they are salessluts ) Thanks for the info. What realistic number would they accept if it costs them $750. Would they believe it if I said, "I told a dealer in XX that I know it costs $750 and he offered it to me for 1K, just wanted to give u the opportunity to match it"

I received an offer yesterday from Infiniti. Or at least I assumed it was Infiniti. Looking at it again, I see it was actually from the dealer.

Which is strange since I bought a third party warranty from them when I bought the car, taking me out to 7 years, 100,000 miles. I don't know how it compares to Infiniti's, but it was only $938.

I believe warranties are normally cheaper at about time of purchase, since there is some self selection when waiting. If someone finds a car somewhat troublesome, they are more likely to buy the insurance.

Sorry didnt read the post before I read your PM. I negotiated with the finance guy at the time of doing the financing when I picked up the car. Like somone said its cheaper when your car is brand new, the older/more miles the more expensive your policy will be so I am not sure if the above pricing would even apply to you.

Check with Grubbs infiniti - Mark Cameron - see if he can beat that price.
If you don't like his price call other infiniti dealers - shop around - you can buy these 'elite' warrantys from any infiniti dealer in the country - just get the best price. Let me know how you make out cause i'm in the market too
in the near future.

I just got a letter in the mail about purchasing the Elite Extended Protection Plan from the dealer where I purchased my car. I have 40K miles on 2003 sedan. The extended warranty that is available for cars with 40-50K miles is 4 years/48K additional miles. I was told that it would be best to purchase it when I am closer to 50K miles.

The cost of the plan is $1,655 with a $100 deductible. This covers everything except wear parts and maintenance. Not sure if I am going to do this. I do plan to keep the car for a while. I will take peoples advice and ask grubbs Infiniti when the time comes.

Got the same letter in the mail. I got a 2003.5 with one of the first 6 speed transmissions (was the first one my dealer got at the time). I know from reading these boards several people have had to get there transmission replaced same with 350z owners who had this same transmission. Im thinking it might be a good idea to get the extended warrenty.

Its all a bet on how much your car will cost you... I do not hear many people on here saying thank god I bought that 1100 warranty since it saved my *** from spending 2500 in repairs. In fact I do not think I have seen that kind of comment at any time on this forum..

I'm hesistent about purchasing this plan for two reasons. First my mother and brother both have nissans with the 3.5 engine, my brother drives his car extremly hard. He has 60k miles on his car with 0 problems, same with my mothers cars, she drives like an old lady though. My second concern is these cars shuold last past 100k miles with little problems. Something small like oxygen sensors might go, but big problems are not that common after the car breaks in. If I bought my car used I would seriously consider this plan because you have no idea how the car was treated before you bought it. These plans would not be offered if the companies selling them were losing money. But then again peace of mind might be worth $1000 bucks.

Folks, I do think the Elite extended warranty is a good idea, especially for those who rack up lots of miles like myself. However, it makes absolutely no sense to purchases at anytime other than just before your default warranty is up, which is 60k/4yrs. It is important to note, you must not exceed your default warranty, or you'll be disqualified for the elite ext. warranty. The key is to squeeze the most out of your default warranty as much as possible.

I purchased the maxium possible (+3/+36,000) with ZERO dedcutable for $1401. It'll increase my coverage to nearly 100,000 miles (actually 96,000). I've had my front wheel bearings go out on me at 61k ... and they took care of the whole thing free of charge. I also replaced my manual tranny (infamous 5th gear grind) ... again free of charge.
