17 hp difference between 03sedans v coupe

The 03 & 04 sedans have 17 less hp than the coupes. Does anyone know what the difference is? Lower compression? different pistons? In the owner's manual there is different recommendations for fuel. Sedans with at least 87 AKI index and coupes with at least 91 AKI index.

do a search man, this is 4 year old info you are looking for.

Anyway, I believe 03 and 04 coupes, manual and auto were rated at 280hp, sedans manual and auto at 260hp. 05 coupe auto still at 280hp, manual at 297hp. 05 sedans auto and manual now at 280hp.

Actually, 05 coupe and sedan manuals are 298hp.

From my understanding it is higher compression (different heads) and cams. I am a noob and presume that from the torque drop to the increased hp. But I am a G35 noob and I am sure that others with more experience can confirm or deny that.

for the difference between 298 and 280.. it is just too different to compare..
they claim different internals, lower intake plenum and for sure fuel map and timing to squeeze that 18 hp up top..

But for the difference between the 260 and 280..that's more of a marketting stragtery.. that tries to differentiate between a sedan and a coupe in 03/04 models..

They are all the same motor, different lower intake plenum. I dynoed 237 on my rev-up motor. On a 15% loss from a manual transmission, it should have been 245-250ish. The 237hp at a 15% loss puts it closer to 280 hp. Anyone have a dyno on a 280 motor?

The Manual Transmissions DO NOT have the Rev-up motor - only the manuals. Tis not the same engine.

EDIT - AUTOMATICS DO NOT HAVE THE REV-UP!!!!! SORRY

Touche. Point is, nissan overrated the power at 298hp, not sure about 280 though. This is the same c*ck & ballz mazda tried to pull with the rx-8.
