Rear Bumper got bumped!! New bumper Q?

Got rear ended this morning at a red light. Luckily It wasnt too bad. Chick stopped behind me started off a bit too fast and I didnt get to complete my Right turn b4 she rear ended me. Looks like it just got a bit scratched up and there is a small dent in the plastic...Is this something they will patch up and fix or will they have to relpace the bumper?? I think I'll take it to the dealer and have them do it so the paint matches up.

Anyone know of a decent after market rear bumper thats not too body kit'ish (all lowered and flared out) and matches up close to stock but is still one piece. The '03 Sedan rear bumper is made up of 4 pieces...The main bumper and the 3 lower pieces...I had this painted earlier in the year to match the the rest of the car but wish it was all one piece...? Thanks all.

I had my bumper replaced twice in my last car. In my experience the shop will always get a new bumper rather than trying to fix the old one. Bumpers are less expensive than the labor required to smooth out any defects and sand and prime for paint.

How much did it cost each time? I'm ready to pony up for a new one myself.

its around 300 for just the bumper cap then you have to figure in any of the attaching hardware is usually one time use, so factor in about another $15 in parts, if the large pieces of styrofoam (yes there are big blocks of styrofoam in the bumpers) it that got damaged, then that may need to be replaced as well, but I don't recall how much it costs, prime, paint, and clear with labor will run you another 200-300, I would say an average of $650. now if you were like me and somebody hit the front of your car, and it damage, the grill/emblem, hood, bumper, foam, composite cross brace, forced the hood into the right fender, plus all the other paint, and happy hooyah that goes along it ran my insurance company 3700 bucks, and me $500. but at least I got the rock chipped bumper fixed, I got a cear bra on ebay for 45 bucks, so as soon as I get the newely formed chips on the hood fixed then I will slap that on there and pray nobody hits my car again. if you have a fairly low detuctible you should have reported the accident to your insurance. your deductable is around 500 then you would prolly be better off, saving some money and just take it in.

I took a pic right after it happened...with the chickie in it. Had my camera with me. Here is one after I cleaned the dirt off. Cant tell so much from the pic but its a bit dented where it angles.

Should I get my insurance involved in this??? Id rather not but I've heard of people having problems down the line with deadbeat insurance agencies.

Hey looks like the same damage that I had...even the same exact place. except...someone hit my parked car. I wanted to go through insurance but i ended up payin less that $500 for gettin the bumper fixed at maaco. It's ashame how Infiniti doesn't have a body shop over here in philly.

just be sure and check the trunk floor inside the trunk, make sure it didn't crumple before you decide the non-insurance route.

I'll have to check that trunk like you said doogie. Didn't even think of that.

had the same situation happen to me a few years back. fortunatley, the girl who rear-ended me offered to pay for the damages out of her own pocket. did you happen to get her number and insurance info?

if its a bump or indent, that cannot be fixed and need to be replaced.

Mine was jus as bad, probably worse..

everythingg35.com has an areo bumper for under 5 bills..but if u dun have an aero kit, den it will not work..

i believe nissanparts.com have the factory bumper..for under 5 as well

best of luck..

The "aero bumper" on Eg35 is just a rear valance that goes over the stock bumper's grey pieces. that's why if you see a pic of the aero package there is grey in the middle at the back, that's the stock grey lower.

lots of people don't know this.

peace
