clear bra, is it worth it?
I (overpaid) $500 (w/ tax) for a clear bra. I think its worth it. I have a rock chip in the windshield from a rock that skipped off the bra. Also, I can look at the front of a brand new g35 (lakeshore slate coupe vs. my diamond graphite sedan) and mine's in so much better shape after 7 months!
The bra I got covers about a foot of the hood, the entire nose, front fenders (around the lights), and the mirrors. I asked about putting it over the headlights, but they recommended against it due to the heat from the light. Plus, anything that will hit the lens hard enough to visibly damage the lens will probably still do damage through the film.
I should have been able to get mine for about $400 or so by the way. I went to the place that the dealer here takes their cars to, and didn't bother negotiating the price.
This same place handles tints and bras for the local cadillac, lexus, and infiniti dealers. I don't know where the germans send their cars, but this shop did quality work.
"Auto Trim Solutions" was their name, but they generally go by "Trimline." Your mileage may vary, but the one in Memphis did a great job. Also, they use a Llumar film, which I think looks great.

I don't think you overpaid at $500 ???
When I priced this out, I found prices between 529 (via dealer) all the way into the 800s.
I've never heard anyone that said they got theirs for 400ish.
I believe this has alot to do with the fact that our cars are so difficult to put the clear bras on....
check out Xpel.com (this is the place many indy installers use):
http://www.xpel.com/products/configu...&submodel=1968
It gives us a difficulty rating of 4 out of 5 stars.

Is it worth it?? In my case it was very worth it. A week after I had my bra applied, I got hit with a buch of rocks on the freeway from some landscaping truck. Thanks to the bra I had no damage, but their insurance co. approved a check be mailed to me for $$$$.. that's how I got my tints and stillen true dual exhaust done with cash left to burn!

Had it not been for the clearbra, I WOULD have had to fix the paint damage which would've meant repainting the whole front-end.
I used http://www.transparentbra.com/
Couldn't be happier. This type of product will save your paint.
$500 is about right. I can see the stealership trying to charge $800-
Punish them for their arrogance. Go to an independent.

I have a buddy of mine, who has had his clear bra for three months. Although it may appear ascetically pleasing to the eye as opposed to the Colgan Custom bra, it does not provide the same protection. The Colgan is ugly in appearance, but it is more effective protection with regard to pebbles, rocks, and other damaging debris. My buddies clear bra is already showing pitting and has been pierced and damaged on the left front bumper, from being hit with a small sharp rock that he received on the freeway. It pierced the bra and dented the bumper. The colgan bra uses 25 oz of padded vinyl, and is lined with flannel, and you can get it in a carbon fiber look, and is only $105.00. I know it looks like ****, but, I use mine primarily on the freeway three times a week from San Diego to L.A., and my front bumper and hood are flawless. Just my opinion. Hope it helps.

I personally do not think bra is worth it. Got quoted around 650 here in philly.
You can get a whole new bumper for half that price if need in 3-4 years. Big deal.
All you people getting rock chips on highway - STOP TAILGATING and driving behind semis and other trucks. The clear bra still will not prevent all chips in paint from a right sized rock. I have been on highway but avoid getting too close behind trucks.
What happens when you try to remove the clear bra in 3 years? It leaves that filmy mess thats a pain to remove. Plus the paint may have to be rebuffed

Thanks for all the insight guys. I too think it will be worth it and I got the dealership to come down from $800 to $525
. I'll be getting it installed hopefully this week.
