I wouldn't have the sedan without the MT . After driving both the AT and the MT, I was sold. I would have bought the coupe, but really need the sedan with small kids. I wouldn't want them climbing over the seat.

Thanks for rubbing it in guys...

After driving for manuals all my life, it was a really really tough choice for me to buy my G35x with Auto (I really wanted AWD at that time and you know the wife can't drive thing). It's been a year since I bought my car and boy do I miss rowing the gears. Throughout this year, "trade-in for a M/T" is spinning around my head just about every other day. I can't denied that I still like my G35x alot, especially in the snow but Auto is really bored compared to driving M/T. The Manumatic is not even 25% close to what a true M/T can do. Damn Nissan's wouldn't make a M/T AWD. I was looking at Tsx's, 3 series, Audi's, Wrx and thought about trading in for a Rwd M/T g35. Obviously I still have my G35x and believe me it aint fun bringing this "trade in topic" with my wife. I hit and my head against the wall asking why can't my wife drive a M/T (envy you guys with the other half that does that...no I won't replace her )

Ok...enough venting

Ordered myself a Stillen CAI...hopefully the sound can stop my M/T obsession for a bit.

While I would disagree with boones' comment about being able to steer with the throttle, the rest rings pretty true.

I would probably put most of the blame on the bean-counters, however.

If you look at the "X" car as a niche model, the 6mt sedan as another niche model, it would seem difficult to make a business case for relatively few potential orders.

Good. Now that the 6mt'ers have stroked each other, any insight on the question?

Sorry, looks like the 6mt love fest has hijacked this thread!

I'm not technical, but the highly technical nature of the infiniti Attesa-awd system itself is probably one of the limiters in not being able to put together a 6mt on this model. The way it's constantly monitoring torque, slippage, traction, etc and sending power & torque back & forth across the wire .... you can imagine how "confused" it would be basically with every shift? This is a much more active AWD system than other manufacturers, which explains why bmw, audi & subaru could design manual models with their awd.

I'd love to hear an educated gearhead give an actual answer instead of this guess though!

Doesn't the skyline have a Manual Transmission coupled with the Attesa all wheel drive system???

Yes it does. The GTR version is even MORE advanced with its torque splitting capabilities.

Gear indication is a simple switch and wouldn't confuse the system.

Those models are ONLY available in AWD platforms.

From a cost perspective, Infiniti already has a 6MT performance version of the G35.... it's just RWD. Like Corvettes, BMWs, Ferraris, Vipers...

Point is - Volvo doesn't offer the S60R in BOTH AWD and 2WD, there is no STI in both AWD and 2WD, there is no EVO in both AWD and 2WD, no Audi S4 in AWD and 2WD.... etc.

These companies don't offer a performance version of their cars in both AWD and 2WD layouts...

And the reason is... (don't let the marketing fool you...)

drum roll...

Because they are all FWD platforms to begin with, which suck for performance. So they just make them AWD rather than have to redesign the chassis for a true RWD model.

See if you can name any cars out there that have an AWD performance model, as well as a RWD performance model.

The closest I can think of is the 911, as the Carrera and Carrera4... even the turbo is only AWD. To get back to RWD, you have to step up to the GT2/GT3 "track" models... etc.

Exactly. There's nothing wrong with wine coolers.

I know a lot of girls that like them.

Even Honda is offering a 6 MT on their 06 Accord Sedan. That is new. For 04, and maybe enen 05, it was only available on the Accord Coupe.

I for one and happy that regular manuals are becomming more availabe across makes.
