What if Infiniti got rid of automatic/manual transmission all together and throw in a CVT tranny? The manual zelots will probably go insane with rage but it's a possibility. The G35 sedan in Japan was outfitted with a e-CVT technology (Skyline 350 GT-8) and that car outperformed the 5AT version of the Skyline 350GT. I don't think Nissan built the 350 GT-8 for show.

I didn't think CVT's could hand that much horsepower. I doubt we will see a CVT.

That CVT can't be sold in North America because it does not operate properly at really low temperatures seen in some parts of the country. As a manual transmission driver, I'd be very disappointed if they went to any type of automatic (or SMT) only and that would remove the G35 as a possible purchase for me.

I agree that I would be disappointed if a proper manual wasn't available.

Go to a dealership and close the door on the M, then the G right away. You'll see what I mean, the G has a lot of rattles through out the car.
I know what you mean! I had a BMW before my G35, and even though I love the G, I also like the "solid" feeling of the BMW a lot better.

Out of curiosity, why did you get rid of the BMW and get the G35? I overestimated my lease needs (18,000/yr instead of 12,000/yr) and jumped the gun on my G35 color (black.. scratches!) so I was thinking of selling the lease and switching to either the 2007 G35 or 06 FX35 or something else...

The pictures in the first post are from a Nissan compact car, not an Infiniti.

The OP just wanted to state that he hopes the new Infiniti's interior are built just as well.

Okay, I did this yesterday, and between the M and the G Sedan that were next to each other, I didn't hear a difference in the door closing, but now, the Coupe is a different story...........
