18" OEM Coupe Wheels on my G35x

Hey guys -

I bought Sportcoupe35's 2004 g35 coupe wheels and slapped em on my G35x today. I think they look pretty good! Lower profile and much wider.

Let me know if any of you have done this, and if so what the diff were on speedometer, etc.

Cheers!
Jer

Looks nice.
They look bigger than 18" though, either that or your
G35x wheels are only 16" (but I thought they were 17's)?

Your not supposed to run staggered on AWD, messes with the system.

Looks really nice. I thought about this setup too but the 04 coupe 18's look very similar to my 05x's 17's.

Just like what the previous person said, aren't these staggered rims/tires? I don't think they can be put on the X's unless you bought maybe FOUR FRONT COUPE 2004 RIMS? Can anyone answer if this actually works?

Any side pictures of it?

By the way, the 30mm offset lines perfect with the fenders.

well..
a friend of mine has a 04 X, and he had actually put a set of 350z rims on (track i believe) which were staggered..

and he had some trouble with his AWD system, which made him sold his sets..

but well, who knows, maybe it just doesn't work for him !
let's hope for the best =)

after all, i dun think it will hurt the system tho, will it? or you can try ask the dealer or the tech manager there for advice!

good luck

Thanks guys ...

I did ride with the wheels and the "slip" came on when I pushed it on one stop sign. Not unusual, at the time however, because there is a lot of dirt and stuff on the roads right now (seeing as how I it's 60 degrees in the middle of winter in Boston).

If this is the case, which I thought it might be, I will probably swap out the rears for 2 front wheels later on. I will be putting these on only in the late spring, anyhow, so I have some time

Was mostly going for the cosmetic response, however. So I appreciate the feedback there!

==== EDIT ====

I just checked the 2004 and 2005 Coupe owners manual. The 18" wheels on the coupe are the same offset - 30 mm, and dimension - 18 x 8. The tires are different sizes (obviously). This makes me feel much better. Both the 17" (1.18/1.30) and the 19" (1.18/1.30) are staggered - lucky for me the 18s are not

I'll check with the dealer, but I would be surprised if this is as much an issue. Since the tires couldn't be that dramatically different mechanically if the wheels are physically the same. Right?

Worst case, I will slap on some 225/45/18 on the back wheels.

Nope, my x's are 17" and these are 18". It's a combination of the wheels/tire combos being pretty dramatically different. Took me a while to let it sink in. Believe it or not, the 17s have a bigger offset (1.77" / 45mm) then either the front or backs.

Cheers!

The coupe wheels are not staggered...what's staggered is the tire set up. All four wheels are 18x8 +30 and the tires are 225/45/18 in the front and 245/45/18 in the rear.

Anyone with an X should not run tires like that. The fronts are too small and the rear are a bit beefy for a 8" wide wheel with +30 offset.

I got the same wheels for my car as a winter set up and got 235/45/18 all around which mounted perfectly square on the wheel and it is the exact same OEM specs.

Here is a pic...

I'll probably run with these for a bit or maybe trade them out - since they are so new.

Thanks and cheers -

Nice choice on the coupe 18's. I just put a set, with the staggered coupe tires, on my non-X yesterday. I thought the tires extended a little too far out to the edge of the body, but after seeing Chico's pics with 235/45/18's, I feel better, as that's what I ordered from Tirerack to be put on the wheels on Tuesday. I'm going to save the tires for my coupe's next set.

I do think the car needs to be a little lower now since it looks more aggressive. I have a set of coupe springs that I may shoe onto it.

Nice work jerdubois and chico.

Nice look on the sedan! I agree on the rears. I just checked out TireRack - they have the Kumho's (235) for $120 each. Looks like that's what I'll end up getting.

Cheers -

These are the 235/45 Kumho's I ordered from Tirerack for $117. The local tire shop said his price on them (special order) was $170.
