The G's braking is so superb, we gotta watch out for getting rear-ended.

I have an 06 and the braking is great, I haven't experienced any brake dust at all.
I had an 05 Audi A4 1.8T before, and while the braking was magnificent as well, there was way too much brake dust in the back.
To put things short, I put the G's braking to the test when I had about 1700 miles. I stopped from three digits to low two digits within a matter of seconds thanks to Brake Assistance and ABS.
Of course, those were the stupid days and that's the only time I'll probably ever hit the combo again...

Edit:
Can anyone chime in regarding brake wear when ABS is engaged.
I know 100% brake pressure is applied while the brakes are pumping, but at the same time, we're wearing the hell out of them...
People traking their cars might know more about this...

Good anticipation, AC1.....it's wise to expect the unexpected.

Last week I was doing about 55 when a deer decided to take a stroll across the road. Honest, he was walking very casually until he heard my tires squeal a bit at the very end of the stop. I thought my G was toast, but it was very stable from the moment I slammed the brakes. My wifes first comment was "it's amazing how fast your car stopped".

The 2 times I've had to brake really, really hard, the rear seat center armrest has flipped down on my '03.5 sedan. Has this happened to anyone else, or do you just keep the armrest down all the time? It's not good when there's an extra thunk in back of you when your nerves are already on edge from a panic stop.

I used to have a volvo wagon... it wasnt very fast but it could brake like a ****. The G's braking system works just as well and I'm quite pleased with it even though the G weighs more.

My suggestion is to drive through an empty parking lot once a week. Go about 50 and hit the brakes really hard to stop in a straight line - then drive off (so mall security wont have issues). Repeat this for a few weeks and then start turning and manipulating the car while you brake. Each and every week you'll learn something new about the dynamics of your car and believe me, it helps A LOT in emergency situations.

Remember, I'm not saying to do this over and over and over in a parking lot on the same night. Just cruise through once a week and hit the brakes and turn and get used to your car and how it REALLY feels. You'll be MUCH more comfortable during an emergency situation.

and remember, I said EMPTY PARKING LOT!

This happened to me in my '05 X. I was coming off the highway and merging onto a rotary at about 10 pm and it was pitch black with hardly any traffic. As I was coming up to the Yield sign before the rotary I see this old Subaru that STOPPED and waited (mind you there were like 2 cars and they weren't anywhere near us) and I slammed on the brakes and the rear armrest fell down. Stupid thing, I thought I hit the idiot. Even after I stopped behind her, she waited a full second before finally pulling out.

Thumbs up G35 Safety systems rock

Good Thread.
My wife and I just returned from a few days in N. Michigan. Last week we were on a paved highway travelling from MacKinaw City to Cheboygan for lunch when my faith in Infiniti Safety systems was reinsured once again.
I was travelling about 65 MPH on an open paved road when all of a sudden this SUV travelling the opposite direction decided to pull a U turn . Like I said I was doing 65 and this was VERY close to us, I hammered on the brakes, they did not lock up , just slowed us down instantly. This person stopped in my lane crosswise, when I hit the brakes I immeadiatly hit the gravel shoulder and went around, missing this person by about a foot. I dam near **** my pants. The car performed excellent, I am sure that if it was in some other car there might have been people injured or I might not be writing about this. My wife had a sore chest for a day and a half from the seat belt locking up, but we were both so thankful we were in the G. I think the big fella was helping us also on that occassion.
I hear of some guys turning off their VDC, well DON'T : , it could save your life. I rammed on the brakes and it went where I pointed it without flinching. I must point out that our car is a 05 G35X.
Thank God and thanks Infiniti my wife and I are still here.
Wayne

Good one Wayne, glad you and K are ok........One of the big advantages of having one of the best traction and braking systems on the planet......

No accounting for some people's stupidity sometimes.... .

I too sincerely endorse your statement about not turning the VDC off.....It has proved itself a lifesaver so many times, and should not be touched.

Thanks for sharing....Let's hope it helps someone somewhere down the road.

Colin.

GEE35X, if according to your story you were going the speed limit and did everything correctly, and that it was the suv's complete fault... I think I would kill the guy after that incident. Angers me when somebody dares to put other lives at risk.

Actually, I think I was going 10 over. I started to pull over to confront the guy but my wife talked me out of it, I slowed right down on the highwat with this dude behind me and they kept their distance no matter how slow I went, then they turned off. It was better that way, you never know what would happen with a confrontation.
Like I said before, my wife and I were very thankful we were in the G.
