SnMDesign: Love it. *drool*

fotodad: Quality has been fine for me- very tight construction, and only one problem with a rattle that was taken care of in a dealer visit. As for gas mileage... You can honestly get anywhere from 10-30, depending on how you drive. I once went around I-465 twice, and averaged about 29mpg. I have the Nav, so I reset it as soon as I entered the on ramp and it was perfect. I then reset it when I got off, and checked out city- which was more around 20. Mine's leveled off between 18-27, depending on the conditions, weather, the gods, and whether or not I've eaten recently... it's THAT sensitive

As a VW-Audi semi-loyalist - check the JD power results and think again. The problems audi's have are critical problems...a rattle here and there which few of us have is not an indication of manufacturing weaknesses or solid construction. When Audi has a problem it leaves you stranded and without a car for weeks (coil anyone) not to mention the electrical gremlins that seem to haunt 2-3 per 100 cars (as per my repurchase manager). Audi has a great car in the aging a-6 - but for 50k and expected problems - i say GEEEEEEEEEEEEE babeeeeeeeeeee.

Re: List your top 3 pros and top 3 cons.

I just read (from Infiniti's website) the "Road and Track" comparison of, I think, 12 sport sedans. The G35 came in first followed by the BMW and the Lexus. From the opinions you kind people have offered (And might I add honest opinions. Sometimes it's tough not to be a bit biased when I comes to talking about your car), it seems the G35 is the right choice. I have mixed feelings, however, about purchasing one simply because I need the AWD option. I'm quite worried the AWD option will put the car out of my reach price wise. I guess time will tell. Someone mentioned the arrival date on the AWD sedan has been moved up two weeks...YES! Let's cross our fingers and hope AWD doesn't add $5K to the price. Thanks again for all the posts. All of you have been exceptionally helpful and informative.

Michael

Troubling news!

I just got off "freshalloy.com" after reading FX 45 posts regarding the AWD. Basically the majority of those on the thread mentioned the AWD on the FX is close to worthless when it comes to snow. This is troubling because the G35 sedan will incorporate the same AWD system as the FX. Those on the FX forum said snow tires are a must. I agree that snow tires tremendously improve traction, but I've had all-season tires on my front wheel drive cars and never had problems in the snow. Yikes! Sounds like I need to be lookin' at front wheel drive cars now. Damn, I was excited to get a G35 sedan.

Re: List your top 3 pros and top 3 cons.

I drove an FX in Colorado (Breckenridge- mountain town) and I can't think of a thing wrong with it. It out-performed the RX I drove there, and kicks the Durango's 4x4 in the butt... The only qualm I would have is that it's "AWD Lock" feature only goes up to 19mph, but let's be honest, if you're going faster than that, AWD or 4x4 isn't going to save your butt if you start to slide (Kinetic energy anyone?). I would wait and form your own opinion- try one out, try the others out. FWD will probably not be better, as my favorite car on earth was a FWD and was FANTASTIC in the snow, but comparatively wasn't up to snuff.

Drive them all, in snow and on dry pavement, then come to your own conclusion It's hard to not listen to the gripes, but remember, for every 10 complaints, there are 100 lauds.

I haven't exactly been plowing snow with my FX but i have no complaints...It's Nissan's ATTESSA system, which you'll find on their GTRs, so it's got a great rep...You just have to take these reviews at face value...And if you've been reading R&T, C&D, or other automotive magazines you'll always find a negative attitude towards Nissan, which is toned down a bit towards Infiniti...Notice that they almost always place any Nissans in the middle of comparison tests- 3rd place out of 5, 5th place out of 10...It's funny...

Did that post mention what kind of tires their FX had? The best 4x4 system in the world isn't going to make racing slicks grab traction on ice.

Were they on summer tires or all-season tires?

Winter tires are always a good thing when there's snow on the ground.

Good point...I'm running Nitto NT-404 SUV tires, but then again I'm in Phoenix (soon to be Vegas) and I wanted a performance oriented SUV tire rather than a tire that was going to be good all-around...Gotta keep up the racer image...Oh, and the FX35 comes stock with V-Rated all-season tires...Mine are long gone, along with the wheels...
